Anyone know who these people are or have had service done by them? I just picked up a e92 335 and am thinking that a walnut blasting service should be done, also need spark plugs and oil change. This is a link to their thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=886333

Do some searching in this section. Most guys here have gone to Aspec tuning to have their walnut blasting service and it's only $300 there.

Looking at a-spec website it looks like they have no experince in BMW and its mostly rotory engines or such. Their website is kind of poor. Main issue I have them is someone stated one of VS motorsports techs work their now. I had quite a few issues with VS when i brought them my e34 m5. They damaged it when replacing a headgasket and did not take responsobility, also did a coolant flush and I ended up with green coolant and not the proper BMW coolant. I did not go back after those 2 instances.

Talked to europartconnect and they seem said they will be lowering the price to $330 which puts it in the same range as a-spec so hopefully other people respond to it as they need a minimum of 5 and I need to get this done. Not saying anything bad about a-spec as I have never been there. But I have no problem paying the extra $25 to know I am dealing with people that are bmw master techs. I'll post up how my review about them if it actually happens.

Sorry to hear you bad experience with VS motorsports, I do not recall your car at the time of when I worked there. The tech who is currently from VS was there only a year before they closed. I took him over to A-Spec because his work ethic and his vast experience on all cars. When I was with VS Motorsports I was the one who initiated having VS purchase the walnut blast machine and they were the first in the Midwest to do it properly. Brad who is the tech has done over 50 cars in the area, Yes there website is bad, but they are working on developing a new one currently and will take some time. I took Brad over to Aspec because I trust he can get things done properly and if he does mess something up he does fix it and lets you know. But if your not comfortable with A-spec then no worries.

I do not mean anything bad to a-spec as I do not know them personally, but when you mention VS it just brings back bad memories. So do you work at A-spec now? What was your position at VS? I was good buddies with Matt VS's service writer/manager until he left there. Do you know if a-spec is replaceing the intake gaskets when they are doing the walnut blasting and are they using the bmw tool? I already signed up with europartconnect as I heard good things from another member here that had it recently done by them. Maybe next service I will try a-spec. Thanks for the info either way.

I know Matt very well, I do not work at A-Spec, I just know the owner very well and I was going to help them get into the BMW scene. And when you do the walnut blast there is rubber gaskets in the manifold, they do not have to be replaced unless they are badly worn. When we did them in the past and currently there was no need to repalce them.

Hey guys, I'm from the Detroit area and I have a friend going to FNL Saturdays meet in Palatine, IL @ Arlington Toyota and Scion. Do you guys have any experience with this event? Is it worth the drive out there? It's not strictly for Toyotas/Scions, but I've heard 500-600 cars show up. Any input? Thanks

I go to this meet regularly. I enjoy it. It's definitely a very diverse crowd. Not that many BMW's honestly, but a few. Just make sure you get there somewhat relative to the start date, spots get filled fast and then is spilled over into the next lot.

As for the amount of cars, it's definitely a good amount of cars. A couple hundred at least, I don't think it's near 600 though.

Do u think its worth the drive from the Detroit area? I heard its a good place to get exposure of a car that's on sale. Any thoughts on that? Because that's the only reason I want to go there so I can try selling a car I have (nicely modded 300zx twin turbo)

Hard to say if it's worth to drive considering it's 5 hours (maybe more) away from you. You'll definitely get a lot of exposure and there is a fanbase for them around here as well.

If you're having trouble selling it, I think it's worth a shot. Arrive early and get yourself a great spot where you'll get a ton of views.

Hmmm, we aren't sure yet if we want to drive there for the event. But thanks for the information.

I went to A&L autobody in Palatine after getting recommendations from a few forum members on here.
Downpipes, Intercooler and the walnut blast while it was there, A & L Has the walnut blaster machine from VS motorsports when they closed their doors earlier this year. I could not believe that my valves were that much gunked up, and after took it for a drive it was instantly felt the performance difference. If you have N54/N55 motor over 30,000 miles. its recommend going to get it done. The techs that come in do this as side work are BMW Master techs from an area dealer. The labor rate I got for all this was Stupid Cheap.....

I totally recommend Anthony and the crew at A@L Autobody, A+ all the way.
