P30FE CEL after Vanos Solenoid Replacements.

Having issues with my N54 335i.

Done my fair share of research and didn't come up with anything concrete.

Basically under WOT in 3rd gear I'll get the P30FE CEL (High Boost, Clamp Bank 1) along with Fuel pump plausability. WOT in 1st,2nd, 4th,5th,6th have no issues. I recently changed my Intake & Exhaust Vanos solenoids due to another issue. I'm all out of ideas and was hoping someone here could shed some light on this subject.

Car has following mods:

- Cobb Stg II+ FMIC Sport w/ Stock Throttle (v301)
- Dinan Intercooler & Oil Cooler
- Vishnu Exhaust System
- VRSF Downpipes
- DCI

Thanks in Advance!

do a 3rd gear pull and datalog it using the default log list... start at 2k and go till redline or at least above ~6000 if you can...

Thing is, while I am in 3rd gear and WOT. I wont' be able to get over 5k rpm due to the 30FE code. You can see the car boost, then decrease in boost, and feel sluggish. That's when the code kicks in and puts the car into reduced power.

sounds like a boost leak lol ... check your connections. most likely a FMIC coupler popped off...

if you do a datalog of the event, you'll definitely know if it's a boost leak by checking WGDC.

I'll be sure to take a look @ it.

Wouldn't this happen if I was to WOT in any of the gears? Thinking it could be the wastegate solenoids?

WOT under 2nd gear I get no cel. 3rd gear WOT as soon as I hit around 5k RPM, I see the boost go down a bit, then car hits reduced power. P30FE comes up.

not sure then but in either case I'd datalog the pull in 3rd gear and post it here or send it to COBB.

Thanks for all the help AU335i.

When you say datalog, which one should I be logging? Sorry about the dumb question, I'm new to the whole AccessPort scene

make sure the datalog list is on default. when you scroll through the "Monitor" options there should be "Reset Datalog List" at the bottom... if it isn't highlighted/white letters than you're on default parameters... if it is in White letters then go ahead and reset the list of parameters to log back to Default settings.

then just datalog normally and graph the log afterwards.

Search for Zasquatch's datalog grapher tool to make it easier to graph.

That's probably not a boost leak, that's overboost. I had the exact same issue at the track a few weeks ago. A few other people are throwing the same codes but usually at the track after pushing the car pretty hard. For me, it would usually happen after about 20 minutes into a session. Something's causing the actuator arms to malfunction, could be bad arms or something software related. I passed on all my info to Cobb.

If you wouldn't mind, could you keep this thread updated when you hear back from Cobb? It'd be greatly appreciated!

+1, I just got a VANOS fault code & am going to replace both of them. No problems with overboost/limp mode. I'm running Stage 2+ Drive until it gets fixed

Any updates on this? I am getting 30FE overboost code at the track and can't figure out the cause.

Not sure why AU335i is talkin about a leak since you wouldn't be overboosting if you had a leak. Please post if you where able to solve.

Yep, P30FE is over-boost and P30FF is under-boost.

P30FE is usually tune related. Do you have an FMIC upgrade ? You did not list this in your message?

my CEL recently just came back on the other day. I was on 401 sport stage 1 and was on the highway. Car is an automatic and it was in either 5th or 6th and when i gunned it the car downshifted and tugged a bit then you feel it bog down and then the CEL would pop. I had switched to the 401 drive stage 1 map and the car has been perfectly fine again in any gear. So i do think this is tune related as well. My ECU is i8a0s
