I have had both and I find the BMW Wheel Cleaner Gel works just as well. I need to use a brush to agitate the brake dust equally with both products. I'm going to stick with BMW Wheel Gel cleaner for future purchases.

Well it depends.
Overall the Sonax is best, especially for really dirty wheels.
I hardly use the Sonax because I clean my wheels regularly (every week).
The BMW cleaner works well for me, but so do most other wheel cleaners or even soap water.
