Review: Crimson92 Dual Cone Intake
Hey,
I just installed Crimson92's Custom Dual Cone Intake kit. This kit is exceptional. It is easy to install (<30 min) and the sound is absolutely addicting. Not only can you hear the classic "swoosh" sound, but the sound of the diverter valves is increased between shifts. Product: Crimson92 Custom Dual Cone Intake Kit Filter Make: Spectre Price: Super Cheap, PM Crimson92 for pricing Available Colors: Red, Blue, Silver Install Time: <30 min Ease of Install: A strong baby could do it Performance Gain: None at all...I really hope no one expects to see horsepower out of a HOT intake system.... Sound: ADDICTING For me this intake is great. I don't have a tune yet as I'm working on my chassis first. I purchased this purely for the sound and looks because even a CAI will get you minimal performance gain so what's the difference? :-) All in all, it's well worth the price. Hope that helped someone, Dave P.S. Please excuse the dirty engine bay...between autocross, track days, and shit tons of research work I've had no time to even clean the exterior of the car, let alone the interior or the engine bay. Oh and in the shots you can see the hood switch for the OEM alarm. If anybody wants info on that let me know. I've installed it and dealt with activation and unforeseen upgrade to 29.2. And....now that I look at these shots I realize I finally have a good bit of space to install my Riss Racing Oil Catch Can... I suppose another review will be coming next week.

Very nice looking. I installed the Vishnu kit yesterday and I'm enjoying the sound benfits you described. I also agree the install was a cake walk. No one should be considering a BOV on this car. The intake kit gives you all the sound you will need without introducing another junction into the stock system.
I'm still thinking there are HP gains to be had with an agressive tune (14-15PSI) at the top of the rpm band. |

congrats for a new intake. anyway - it looks to me like those filters are too big for this application, they stay in the way of each other. no?

hey dave thanks a lot for the review. As some have said the performance gains are minimal and you won't benefit powerwise without some sort of tune.
However throttle response seems slightly improved. The filters are on the larger side but it won't matter being as that they cover more surface area. Please pm if there are any questions and sorry for the gramatical errors if any, I'm on my phone

Throttle response is definitely improved even over the K&N I had previously...which was an improvement over stock. I also just put 4 gallons of 100 octane race fuel in after burning off the remaining 93 octane I had in the tank in preparation for tomorrow's autocross. I don't know if I can say that I can tell a "performance" difference between race gas and race gas w/ dual cones but everything certainly feels more "open" and "smooth".

Actually I just noticed the filters are sitting off, you need push the adapters further into the filters and into the intake ducts

OK I positioned the rear filter further back. It turns out it was just caught on one of the accordion bits and I just had to rotate it. All better Pictures updated. And I still stand by the statement "that sound is addicting"

Juan, looks great mang! Great job!
Love the blue man... You should offer the cones in different colors... like how Apple offers the iPod in different colors.
