One of my tires is not like the others

I've been noticing my car pulling to the right side a lot while driving straight on a flat surface road. Also a weird sound when making turns from my tires, like the tires are rubbing.

With that being said, I was changing out my side reflectors the other day and I noticed my front right tire is different from all three tires...could the different threads have any effect on the steering and the noise I mentioned?

Without a doubt... different tire patterns affect driving grip, and braking. If they have different tread life, and psi your just asking for trouble. This in turn creates an uneven wear in your tires, with bad alignment on your toe settings will only make things worse...

I'm very upset that I'm finding this out now...but you live and learn.

I found the same tire on ebay with thread depth 6-7/32. I don't have a thread depth meter to check my other tires. I'm hoping one of the tire shops would be kind enough to help me check my thread depth.

Say the threads are off, would it be better to just ride around with my car as is? or swich out the one tire and have uneven tire wear?

Yes, having a different tire can indeed cause pulling...as can using tires with different tread depths. Head over to Walmart, Autozone or any other auto parts shop and purchase a cheap tread depth gauge to verify your current tread depth. These gauges can sometimes be found in the "99 cent" section or checkout area.

Wat?

It's a stick with numbers on it...kinda tough to not get consistent results from this type of device.

I had problems in the past with "cheap" gauges and "stick with numbers" that's why I asked...

Are you referring to air pressure gauges or tread depth gauges. I could see issues with the former, but not with the latter.

Match all tire pressure first. If the fronts are non directional, swap the fronts and see if the pull changes to the left. flat road test it, cruise and let off the gas (neutral coasting) if it goes straight then good and if it pulls once you give it load (speed up) you have bushing wear issues. Have the alignment shop check for worn control arm bushings. have them replaced before a new alignment. This is if your tire isnt an issue.

I have rft (worn) and a kumho (90% new) up front right now and never experience this severe type of pull youre referring to.

I measured all four tires last night and all of them have different depths...I guess this would be a good time to get new rims/tires. I’m a little pissed I didn’t catch this when buying the car…stupid move on my part. Anyways, thank you all for your in-put really appreciate it.

After I put my new tires and rims on, the car does not pull and the noise I got when turning is gone!

I never bothered to look at them, even when buying the car lol. Lesson learned...would of been a good point to lower the final price
