bmw teflon coat, is it any good
just picked up my car and they tried to sell me the teflon coat that has a 5 yr warranty against everything, but their selling point was no need to wax
anyone get this? how is it? worth the $600? any other comments? |

For those who don't even wash their car for a year it may be an appealling idea (although those people don't know at delivery they're probably not going to wash their car!). For these people it still isn't a good value IMO. If you're on this board I'm betting you're not in this category. Even if there are folks here reading this, take it to a decent detailer once a year and spend $120 each year for 5 years and you're much better off!
It is an absolute scam for those who DO take care of their cars with frequent washings and paint protection i.e. wax or sealants. Quote:

What's amazing is that it takes like 1200 degrees F to get telfon to adhere to paint, so how are they accomplishing this? They cannot be and it is the ultimate scam imo.

Save your $600 and buy blacklines or something. If you buy the teflon coating ask the CA to kick you in the nuts as well....

sounds no one is a believer here, but i think i found the website of the manufacturer, it looks to be backed by dupont
http://www.simonizusa.com/demoend.asp they say they will repaint your car and provide a rental car if it doesnt work i'm sure this wont change anyones mind here, but just passing the info along |

Forget the $600 treatment and buy a PC orbital, some clay and lubricant, and a sealer and do it yourself. Read the detailing thread, follow directions, and you will be amazed. Buy plenty of polishing cloths and change often. Have fun.
