Hey guys, if anyone can post links to the best deals on clay bars..I'd appreciate it. I've tried Kragen, Autozone, and Pepboys but they only sell the clay bar as a package in a box which is a rip off.

George..what is the difference between medium and fine grade clay bars? Thanks!

I've used the Clay Magic medium bar on painted wheels and it left some substantial micro-marring despite my best efforts at lubrication; I'm not sure if this is a characteristic of medium clay or my clay-fu just isn't strong enough to handle it

I've used the JW "fine" clay bar on my car with no such issues, and I'll probably try the Clay Magic fine when I use up the JW.

the different grades of clay bar speak to the type and amount of abrasive particles in the clay.

clay grinds away paint contaminants, so for things you pick up from driving, fine clay should do the job, but if you need to remove overspray from something, a more abrasive clay may be necessary. but if you lubricate properly and take your time, neither should leave any siginficant marring. always better to start with the least abrasive product to get the job done. go with the fine and step up if you need to.

Yeah, but that's a 7oz bar, almost half a pound. And you use a little piece at a time. A 200g bar is going to last a long time, and most people only clay their car a couple times a year, at the most...

+1...It goes a long way. I've clayed my entire 335 once, and the hood by itself twice. I've also clayed my entire e46 twice (my wife likes to park under pine trees). I have only used roughly 1/2 of my bar.

All clay bars sold in the US will come from the same manufacturer. The only difference between them will be colors and abrasiveness.

The "cheapest" clay out there is Claymagic Available at Autozone for around $10
