N55 buring oil?
Have a 11 N55 e92 with 40K on it.
I just got done installing Catless down pipe, modded exhaust, intercooler, intake, and charge pipes. I used MHD stage 2+ to tune the car over the weekend. After i tuned it i did and oil change (full synthetic Rotella) I now notice a smell of oil when i get out of the car after driving. Is this normal? or should i be worried? |

Whats the temps like in your state? and whats the weight of oil? have you changed it recently to a new brand or weight? Have you loss oil when reading gauge? I went from Mobil 1 to Liq Molly and had the same problem until about 2-4days of driving

You might have just poured some oil on the exhaust when doing the oil change, if that's the case it should eventually go away, keep your eye on it. If you changed your oil filter (which you should have), check if the filter was tightened enough(but don't over tighten) and that the seals are not leaking.
Another thing to note is that if there was an engine problem (ie engine burning oil), you could test that by starting the car and letting it warm up, once its warm give it some revs, get someone to watch the color of the exhaust fumes, if its got a blue tint to it that's oil being burned, black is usually carbon (excess fuel that's not burned). I have been using Rotella 5w40 full synthetic. I live in New England, temps are anywhere from 40-65 currently. This was only the second time i change the oil in the car since i have owned it. small is deff coming from the exhaust. I'm not 100% its oil. It might just be the exhaust in general? Maybe it got stronger from the tune and bigger intercooler?

Valve cover gaskets are known to leak on the exhaust side of the valve cover, it leaks down onto the manifold and burns.
