Coolant overflow tank

Past few months 98% time I start my car I get a low coolant light but my coolant isn't low. Is there a chance there is a float inside the tank getting stuck or more likely a faulty sensor?

Is this the originally BMW tank and sensor? Aftermarket replacements for sensors are known to fail a lot but it literally takes less than a minute to change the sensor! Also when you measure your coolant level I imagine your car is on a rather flat surface and in a "cold" state!

It's an aftermarket cheap eBay replacement tank, is it possible to remove the sensor without taking the tank out?

Absolutely you just need to know a bit what your are doing and it will go super fast. I have a broken expansion tank I will upload a video to show you how the sensor goes in or out!

Yep my sensor is acting up as well but I kept my OEM Bmw sensor so I will swap that out! Same for my pal but he just changed it and the light went away!

Here is the video of my installing the sensor on my broken expansion tank. As you will see it can only fit one way! The only thing I didn't show is how to disconnect the electrical connector and then reinstall it, but I think you can manage that it's pretty simple. By looking at the geometry of the connector you'll figure out how to pull it out! I am pretty sure you have enough clearance to easily do it while the tank is still in the car. The sensor is located at the bottom.
