Stock Air Box 1/4 runs with JB3 and different maps
Ran the car(135i) a few weeks ago with the DCI, best for the day was 13.0 at 110mph.
Decided I wanted to drive the car with the stock air box and filter ans see if it made a difference. I'm still undecided, the car's low end response feels better than the DCI. Top end power still seems to be there with the factory airbox. I'm going to throw on some scoops and a helene filter and see how I like this. But lets get to the times: Cars Mods: JB3 R8.3 BT. Downpogs without cats, Code 3 cooler, Factory Air box+Filter. Tires: Stock Runflats, did not touch tire pressure. Fuel: Mix of 91 octane and 100, avg 94-94octane. Steptronic. Track elevation: 3000 feet, ZERO track prep (no stickystuff). MAP 5- 60ft 2.062 1/8 8.367 mph 86.46 1/4: 12.867 mph: 110.28 MAP 6- 60ft 2.187 1/8 8.445 mph 87.25 1/4: 12.848 mph: 112.32 MAP 7- 60ft 2.391 1/8 8.694 mph 86.93 1/4: 13.119 mph: 111.15 Map 6 and 7 had no adaptation time. I'm happy with the times considering my tires and track conditions. I'm also happy with the stock air box, seems to be working well.

It was nice to see you and a blast to race against you the last two runs, I think we left the track with a big smile. Now I know not to mess with you on any HWY or roll acceleration(). I think your car will do below 12.5 with a set of decent sticky street tires(BF Goodrich Street drag radials T/A or TA II. I have been racing at this specific track for 7 years (at least 250 passes and 15 different cars), this is one of the worst tracks in the country as far is getting good times. You simply blew the competition, the C5 and C6 vettes were in the mid 13s, the New Camaro SS were in the 14 and 15, the Cobras were in the 13s so your 12.8 shines. Anyways, I talked to my friend?(Trevor) and I told him to look for the video. Pssshh..buy my Kosei rims |

Nice results! Love it when the Vette,GTO,Cobra owners come running up to the BMW to see what the heck is going on.

Carlos,
It was a good time last night. Your 1.8/1.7 60fts were killing me in your EVO. I'll get a re-match with you when I get better tires. Tack conditions: Temp 73, Humidity 40%.

^^^ . John, the problem is that I can only do that(launch) so many times before I ran into trouble(clutch wearing), remember, you are the one that can run over and over with the starbuck coffee in one hand and still laugh. My clutch will launch a few dozen times but you can launch thousands of times on your steptronic trouble and maintenance free. Steptronic for the win!!
Well, on a serious note, I know your car will do 12.5 and below, the BF Goodrich DR will make a significant change, I shaved 6 tenths of a second back in the day on my 335i just by switching to those tires and adding a couple of gallons of 108oct. You need to try the semi traction control, that is what yielded the best times for me. |
