Anyone with Performance power kit + ECU tune?
I've ordered performance power kit at the dealer couple of days ago.
and i'm thinking about further upgrades such as JB, procede, XEDE....etc. i also read a thread that says they'll replace my msd80 with 81 and remap the dme for better performance. i'm not sure, however, i'm going to be satisfied with the oem-like tuned program. (i just thought the cooling parts of PFPK would be great for the durability of n54) the thing is...JB3 or the other piggy backs, reflashes are going to be compatible with the oem-tuned dme81?? anybody, chime in plz. JB+ should be no issue at all, as several users are using JB+ on top of other ECU tunes. What I know there is nobody here with a power kit and Procede / JB3.

I would suggest JB+ at a mild level like 50%.

I think Piggyback tuning box + Power Kit = very bad idea. Until BMS/Vishnu develop their boxes specifically for the Power Kit, JB+/SSTT is the only way to increase power. But to buy JB+ means to also buy a BT cable in order to erase the tuner codes that will most likely be triggered. I prefer to increase the power through new intake/downpipes/exhaust/intercooler until properly tuned piggybacks tuned for the Power Kit appear (if ever...)

I'm in the same condition and already asked to Shiv if the procede with some kind of user setting (like 60% ut) would be compatible with the BMW performance tune but no reply at all.
I hope at least Mike can clarify our doubts... In case I can easily switch from procede to Jb3. |

I logged the performance tune and it does almost nothing. Target boost is 8psi peak at midrange and 6psi to redline. I would like to mantain my previous 14psi...

Can you please explain what ALMOST nothing means ? If boost is not increased (which I like) how did they add power ? Do they run more aggressive timing ?

Yes, but you get the extra cooling hardware for the Power Kit which is much needed, and when you revert back to stock the car will not feel so dumb

This lead to the marginal power increase (20-25 crank hp). Btw I'not interested at all to a jb+ 'cause I want at least the fueling control and to mantain my Procede stageI boost level. |

Wonder how much it cost to just upgrade the hardware but not the software.

Beware that the Dinan intake does not physically fit in the engine bay if you have the Power Kit installed !

too bad... i've already wired the money... fortunately, the mechanic at the tuning garage says he can try some mod for the piping if it doesn't fit in. may need some pipe cut and anastomosis done. i should've known earlier. |
