Anyone remapped an LCI 330d auto ?

As per the title ...

Has anyone has an E92 LCI 330d remapped - if so, how good is it or were there any issues ?

Many people have had pre LCI but that ECU was not encrypted ... thus wanting views from LCI owners who have had the work done !

I have not seriously considered a remap before as the car was on a PCP and under warranty but I have now finished the PCP and though have an extended warranty do few miles (having bought a little Smart diesel for commuting).

I have looked at BW Chiptune or DMS.

I am aware DMS are dear but they will come to me and, apart from being known as dear, they seem to have a really excellent reputation.

Any views ?

I don't think many have remapped the LCI 330D! I'm waiting for a switchable map to be released!

Rumours say one company is in development but that's been like a year since I e heard that!?

Had my LCI 335d remapped. Wasn't aware there were any issues with encrypted ecu's on the LCI.

If you can map it. Do it. I just took the map off the 335d and you can REALLY feel the difference. Even the wife commented on how "slow" it now was (as if 285 BHP is slow).

I'm sure the 335d uses the old ECU (not encrypted) as it uses the old engine....

Seriously recommend DMS to any one wanting a remap. Very very professional businesses!

My boss did not get his done he wants to see how I get on but I got a feelin he will be back soon
Brilliant - glad you are pleased !

Is your car an auto ?

Have you found the power comes in too abruptly or is manageable ? My concern was my 330d is quite quick but very manageable and a lift in power to almost 290bhp worries me a bit that it will be too sudden and pin me to the seat whilst the wheels scrabble for grip - can you comment ?

Also, does the gearbox change smoothly still or did it have a bit of trouble adjusting to the extra power ? I had a 320d auto mapped and it struggled to adjust to the point I got the map removed (that was a Superchips one).

Had mine remapped by Simon of E-Maps. I'm very pleased with it; fast and smooth acceleration, no hesitation unless you catch the single turbo at low speed as per usual. Its so refined you wouldnt know it was remapped until you give it some welly and discover how much grunt you have waiting for you. I get slightly worse economy - 36mpg on my daily commute but I can get low 40s if just cruising - but that is so hard to do . E-Maps rate the remap at 290bhp and 620Nm. Ive never checked it.

Thanks.

I am really torn between DMS and Emaps ...

Cost is an issue which clearly comes down in Emaps favour ... but DMS are more well known I suppose.

The maps seem they will be effectively the same, producing roughly the identical power and both are done in basically the same way so both as undetectable / detectable by BMW as each other ! Both should be equally reliable and not overly stress the engine. DMS will come out to reset to std whenever I want for 3 years where I think Simon charges but is cheaper from the outset.

I may just chuck a coin in the air - unless anyone can give more info to sway me one way or the other !!

To the LCI 330d owners - how are your clutches holding up after the map?

mine's auto with flappy paddles which goes very nicely with the remap.

I once had a Discovery TD5 auto with a remap - but it wasnt as good as a manual because the autobox kept changing down when you pushed hard and so you couldn't use the extra torque - the manual obviously didnt change down and allowed you to use the extra torque at low rpm. With the BMW however the gearbox seems to get along with the remap perfectly and holds the gears well.

I went with E-Maps because of excellent recommendations from a close friend and Simon came to me.

Just back from DMS and their Rolling Road - very pleased with the result : 305 bhp from a 330d LCI auto

The guys there were excellent and I am very impressed with their service. They mapped the car at my home but as I wanted to see the figures they just said come down and we will RR it ... which they did.

Link to the printout - apologies photo from camera phone ! Figure is flywheel obviously.

I have a pre-LCI 330dA remapped at a company in Belgium. Very smooth in traffic and very powerfull when there's room for it. 320Hp/700Nm.
Car is not just remapped, Bigger FMIC, no filter and a hybrid turbo from Turbo Dynamics.

Update 6 weeks on after remap.

Hugely impressed still. The power is fed in smoothly and it really is quite rapid now - as it should be I guess.
Fuel economy is suffering as I am using the power - down a couple of mpg to say the least ... but that is a right foot issue more than anything else.
As has been mentioned the paddles come into their own now the car is remapped and I am using them a lot more.
Overtaking was easy with 245bhp ... now with 300bhp it is silly easy :-)
I have found turning on DTC so as to allow more wheelspin before the electronics cut the fun has transformed the feel of the mapped car and is thoroughly recommended to those with mapped cars !

DMS were good but now, having used the car for 6 weeks with the map I can see just how much attention to detail has gone into it. It is not a rushed map - it is well thought out and very smooth. Smoother than standard and streets ahead of the aggressive map Superchips put on my 320d. Costly yes ... but very well done and thoroughly recommended :-)
