Found this with a quick google search...
http://homeguides.sfgate.com/evict-t...ding-3028.html Items 10 and 11 have relevance here.... 10 Wait the 15 days allowable by law for the tenants to claim any possessions from the property if the sheriff completes a lockout. Mail a “notice of belief of abandonment” to the tenant’s address you have on record if the tenant leaves of his own accord. This notice gives the tenant 18 days to reclaim possession of his belongings, which you must store safely for him. Take a picture and inventory property before storing to prevent accusations of theft. 11 Dispose of the tenant’s property after the waiting period if its value is $300 or less. Auction it through public sale if the value is greater than $300. Publish the auction information in a newspaper weekly for two weeks before the sale, and hold the auction after five days from the last published date. |

What amazes me, if this guy had any sympathy for customers or employees, why some notice or explanation has not been put up somewhere. At least telling folks what the process/timeline will be to recover funds, orders, (entire CARS for christ's sake) etc. Hell who to call at least. Really shady. |

Again if you are owed something and paid for it via CC, call your card company. If any funds were disbursed to him then the CC company becomes the creditor, no need for you to be one, and usually you'll get credited back full amount. |

Bankruptcy would have been the right choice but this seems to be more than just a series of unfortunate circumstances and bad decisions. From what I've read, the fraud occurred quite some time ago, so purely from a balance sheet perspective, they must have been in trouble for a long time now. |

Car "Should" be free in the AM... Both the building manager and Chris's attorneys are explaining to the Manager that he cant keep customers cars locked up. Chris was told to make a list of all property that does not belong to him, VIN's en such. Everyone who has cars and parts in there should be getting a call in the AM.
Shall see... |

It feels like reporting the car stolen might be a wise choice if they won't release it. Good luck with it. Sticky situation for sure.

I don't think that's an option, the car isn't stolen by definition. It's really a civil matter at this point. I bet if the owner told the story to the PD, they would say sorry, you need to speak with a lawyer, it's not criminal, but civil.

I dont know how it is in Oregon, but in Hawaii, a landlord can't refuse a full or partial rent payment from a tenant for up to 7days AFTER the due date. After the 7days the landlord/management can deny any payments and file for eviction/termination of lease based on failure to pay.
IF the landlord/management accepts anything after, the lessee can take them to court and claim "good faith" that they will make good on their payments and delay the eviction if the legal system tends to side with the tenants(in Hawaii they do). This could be the reason they wont accept anything from Chris. If he has lets say, 6months left on his lease, he could manipulate the system to stay several more months or worst case(for the LL/Mang) the rest of the lease on partial payments. Some states don't have a grace period after a rents due date, which makes 6months to a year+ lease options a lot less riskier. Teri

If you know your gonna close up shop, out of respect or your customers atleast make sure you get other peoples cars/parts out of there.
Even if he does open back up, whoever does business with Chris after this is an idiot. |

Couldn't agree more. It was a bad business move and I'm sure he lost a lot of customers with this stunt.

I have respect for HPF and all they did for the E46 M3 platform, but yes I too question this, especially with ZooyorQ indicating that Chris was able to get his shop cars out in time..
