E90 sound system

Hi guys

Was wondering what different types of standard sound systems were fitted to the e90 m sport? And which one sounds the best? I've heard the bmw professional sound is good? What are your views?

Thanks

MEGA is your man for sounds!

Professional is the head unit, you can still have the standard speakers with the Pro head unit.

Loudspeaker system - BMW Business
and...
Loudspeaker system - harmon/kardon surround sound

are the available upgrade options from new

You forgot Loudspeaker system - Individual

Business was about £400
Harman Kardon was about £900
Individual was about £1460

Individual is very good but not £600 better than the HK IMHO.

Of course the price differentials are much less (if anything at all) buying used.

A lot of third party dealerships don't realise they are selling a car with the upgraded speaker system so look closely at pics when buying.

All the upgraded systems have door mirror tweeters

Individual is easy to spot as it has silver speaker covers and is a very rare find outside of the M cars.

That kind of comments make me laugh seriously. No disrespect to Mega though.

Fella, read what Hopeful & Mob17 posted.

Sorry if that was disrespectful to anyone, just remember seeing a thread mega wrote about audio (which isn't my bag at all, as I'm one of a handful who think the bog standard system is really good!)

Coming from that system, I'd be really pissed off if I'd bought the 335i new and paid £1465 for the Individual Loudspeaker system in it.

Here's a pic of the Individual Speaker covers...

Sorry mate, if I was too harsh.

I guess you should read Mob 17's thread, or my audio builds.
If somebody is true audiophile, look at Rudz build thread and listen to his car.

At Mr Singh is champion who works in car audio industry.

When it comes to BMW audio few members such as gIzze, mob17 and myself have wealth of knowldge.

And there are many more who are learning rapidly such as hopeful , hope etc.

need some tips

My car (2009 328i E90) has stock hifi speakers and came with the bmw professional radio head unit. I want to make the sound system sound better. I plan to add the JL XD600/6 6 channel amp, use Audiocontrol center 6 Ch line converter to link the OEM amp to the new Amp. I will be using a 4G amp kit and RCA.
I do not want to replace the factory Amp but instead improve it using the JL aftermarket Amp basically not messing with the fiber optic system already in the car. Please does this makes sense? Am i on the right track here? I am in Canada and it is hard to get any help here.

Don't think the e90 ever had "business" speaker system. That's a name that's being attached to newer models.

There was base system, hi-fi loudspeaker system, logic 7/hk, and individual.

I have the hifi system, and overall, find it excellent. The only real limit is the lack of more precise EQ that the l7 system has. But considering adding one of these jbl ms2 boxes to fix that.

Most of german cars come with some sort of processing and time alligned algorithm. Hi-fi is pure stereo. As you said, MS-2 should address the time allignment way better than BMW default processing of base / hi-fi system.

It's not just time alignment either, it's the inability to deal with a mild peakiness in the hifi systems lower treble. I suspect its a crossover anomaly but in any event it would be good to be able to dial it back a bit. I'd hope an ms2 might help smooth out the frequency response. However, in terms of detail and power, I find the hifi system very capable, and having no interest in surround or dsp, decent clean two channel sound is all I'm after.

Although ms2 will help you, but it does the time allignment as well.
