I agree, think it is more of a "what's the mood of the officer" deal. I dont have one and probably wont put it on unless I get ticketed. I think they only use it as an excuse to pull you over if they are looking to check for other, more serious violations, like drugs or a DUI.

We didn't run one on my wife's Cobalt SS either and she got pulled over for it because the officer was taining a new guy. Luckily they were called away for something that mattered and let her go.

2010 Fall Valley Cruise

When: Sunday, November 7, 2010
Time: 10:30am (leave on the cruise at 11am)
Where: Parking lot corner of Steels Corners and Hudson Drive

This is a 70+ mile cruise throughout the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Lots of scenery to take in. Lots of twisty roads and elevation changes. It's an event you don't want to miss!

We will start meeting up at the parking lot located at the intersection of Steels Corners Rd., Hudson Drive, and Allen Road. It's located to the immediate East from the Steels Corners Rd. exit off of S.R. 8. (Look closely at the map and you'll even see us there for the Spring Valley Cruise meetup!)

Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...=UTF8&t=h&z=16

Grab a late breakfast or early lunch before the cruise starts. We'll make a stop for some ice cream half way through the cruise.

The cruise will end back where we started at Rockne's in Stow to watch some sunday football and get some mid-afternoon eats.

Rockne's - Stow
http://www.rocknes.com/
4240 Hudson Dr.
Stow, OH 44224-2251
Ph: 330.922.9960

For those who have them, bring along a 2-way radio (FRS) to keep communications going on road hazards, animals, people, etc. Bring extra radios along to share with others. There are gas stations at the starting point, so it would be recommended to have a full tank before the cruise begins.

This is not a race. This is a cruise, so leave the attitudes at home. Don't push anyone or think you're better than someone else. That only leads to accidents (which has happened in the past). There's nothing to prove. The goal is to go out and enjoy a cruise through the Valley.

The fine in Columbus is $135 but 99% of the time you would have to get pulled over for speeding first before they would ticket you for that. I got pulled over for speeding and they mentioned the no plate too. Fortunately I only got a warning.

We need more events in the Columbus/Cincinnati area, can't really make the drive to and from Cleveland for a couple hours of activity, though it sounds fun.

Sounds like a great time! I am very familiar with the area since I used to live in Stow and Kent, and with the leaves changing and falling, it should prove to be a very scenic drive! Hopefully I can make it (nothing comes up to stop me)!

Going back to the License Plate discussion for a sec, anyone try this?

http://www.jayracing.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=264

Looks good enough to fool cops from a distance, especially since it's reflective at night like the state issued plates. Put that on after the clear bra is done of course though. At least won't have to drill any holes.

Seems like a good way to kind of get around it but would think they would be more inclined to pull you over for that than no plate at all.... Besides, it may defeat the whole purpose of having a clean looking front end.

I would go with the tow hook mounted plate holder before I drilled holes. no doubt!

Do they offer a fix it ticket so you can throw on the tow hook holder and get the fine waived? Then take it off again when you get home and continue playing cat and mouse.

I bought a Skene Design bracket (requires two small holes on the underside of the bumper), haven't mounted it yet but even after you remove it the holes aren't visible.

Just found I will be heading to Wright-Patterson AFB in June. Guess I will be frequenting a new part of the forum instead of the Official Utah Chat Thread. Where are the dealers located at in that area?

Anyone had wheel repair done in the Akron/Cleveland area? Since I am switching to my winters this weekend, I was probably going to take the 162's to get fixed up. No curb rash, just marks from pothole damage (effin Ohio roads, some of the worst road up-keep I have ever seen in my life!).

If anyone knows somewhere that does quality work without raking me over to coals on cost, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

By the way, yes, I will search....

BMW of Dayton from what I've heard seems like a great dealer, there's also Voss Village BMW, or if you're willing to drive to Cincinnati, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The BMW Store. There's also a handful in the Columbus area. DON'T go to Jake Sweeney in Cincy though.

Recommended by Dave Walter BMW. I cracked one of my 124s and took it there to get fixed. They did a good job and weren't ridiculously expensive. I would definitely use them again.
