Does this mean I have to downgrade back to v4 for every inspection? I've got three months to figure it out, but I was hoping it wouldn't be an issue anymore. Any more tricks in the pipline too get around this issue that a lot of us are having? Many thanks.
Nothing has changed between v4 and v5 in respect to emissions readiness or CANclear functionality. Even the o2 modifier is still functional if you absolutely need it.

Shiv answered this question earlier in the thread and in one posted a couple weeks ago. The CANclear function prevents readiness and should be disabled before attempting a drive cycle and inspection. For those running off-road or catless downpipes, the Procede user should set the O2 modifier option to 3, but you'll have to play with the values to find a setting that suppresses/prevents codes that allows readiness. Option 0 disables CANclear and the O2 modifier, which should be suitable for OEM (catalytic) downpipes.

I'm curious where texas347 took his car for inspection and if they granted him a credit to retry after a driving cycle. I also live in Trophy Club (when I'm not working in Plano or traveling for work)-- it's a bit of a hike to get to a reputable BMW service location if you don't want to use a local grease monkey.
No one is getting riled up just calling it like I see it. Your still an asshole and I hope that being clever helps you out.

I turned CAN-Clear off and tried to go back to the inspection place but they closed earlier than I thought they would on a Saturday so I will have to try again this week.

Car runs fine and to clarify I have had V5 on the car for over a month and have put over 1500 miles of drive time on it so the drive time has been done.

I have not disconnected the battery since the install however - so I will be trying that as well.

Imperator - I took it to a Kwik Kar and yes they are allowing me to come back anytime in 30 days and retry. The guys were cool about it.

Question is - does this mean those systems aren't working at all and how would that be affecting the car?

The Kwik Kar in Roanoke? Those guys are pretty cool about inspections and allowing 30 days. Much better than that inspection shop in Grapevine that just wants your money.

You'll need to put a good bit of miles on the car now that you have CANclear off. All of the systems are functioning-- it's not that the V5 is preventing them from operating properly, it's just that it's not allowing them to log a history of operation to set a "readiness flag" in the computer. The OBD-based emissions test isn't actually testing the operation of these parts on your car--it's just examining the car's status of those parts over a brief period of time.

Disconnecting your battery will reset these values and require you to build the history all over again.

Shiv
A neat feature that was on my girlfriends hondata was the ability to go into the user software and "set OBD2 readiness". Is this a function that could be added fairly easily to the Procede? Would come in super handy for those with full catless setups.

I was under the impression you cant have readiness with canclear on. Atleast I couldnt last year. I had to turn canclear off and drive around for a couple days. It was fine after. I assume the same thing will happen this time. I have my stock cats.

If you make the harness update, you can unmake it to have the o2 sim functionality. I bought a stand-alone o2 sim so I can do the update and still have the o2 sim running. I've got high flow cats and I can get away with just a very small modification (90% o2 modifier setting).

Canclear does not work properly with my old 2007 bmw software, or as shiv puts it the BMW software does not work properly with Canclear. I just avoid the dealer like the plague and do not want to go in and pay for an update.

ll this talk of O2 sims got me thinking.
Will a good old fashioned O2 sensor spacer work in our cars? Worked beautifully on my catless Audi

Kind of confused now...I have a DP Fix V3 that I'm going to install, in addition to my tune. So when I go in for an inspection...I need to turn canclear off and should be fine then?

Depending how your V4 is wired, you can set the O2 Modifier value to 3 and get away without the DP Fix but I know you'll want something in place should you ever have to remove the Procede for dealer service.

In that case, you should set the O2 Modifier to 0 and let the DP Fix do its work. You should be okay with a few miles to set readiness, even with the catless DPs.

Yes, turn off canclear before you go in for inspection, maybe even a week or so in advance so you are sure all the readiness flags have been set.
