It seems that most everyone thinks #1 is the choice, with an added extended warranty. Any arguments against that choice? Why not #2? Pros/cons?

Price sucks, Xdrive IMO is negative especially on 328, then there is no sport suspension and no I-drive

Agree; plus don't really need Xdrive, especially in South Florida, which is where I live.

For 29K you could find a good 335 CPO... just saying.

^^ agree with this. for that difference in price you can add an aftermarket warranty to at least cover the "big ticket" items (hmmm most of them are 'big') and still come out ahead.
Also, I think you'll love the Nav.

I bought a 3yr/36k extended warranty for my 2006 330xi with 68k miles on it no problem $2800 w/$250 deductible. Looking for peace of mind mostly to cover the really big bills like $5k for a new tranny. I've had good experience with the Warranty Group (called Member's Choice through my credit union). www.mrclaims.net

I would buy warranty for 335i for sure, 328i's are pretty reliable in comparison. I just like to take precaution cause I know these 3ers are a pain to fix lol.
Yeah, 328's are very reliable. (at least in my experience) It also helps to be a DIYer. Since my warranty expired 30k miles ago, i've had 0 issues. I've only done maintenance, with the Serpentine belt being the costliest, and even that wasn't too heart wrenching.

Apart from what everything that was already said...Do you need a 4-wheel drive? That itself adds to 1) gas consumption, 2) additional things that can fail... I'd go for the 328i but definitely negotiate a warrantee of some kind.

Take the key to dealer and have it read. SA can print out service history and what BMW warranties are available.
