Not true. Although VTEC is a different cam lobe, VANOS is more like the Evo IX Mivec or the i in iVTEC. Imagine having a cam gear that you can vary within x degrees as you see fit within the rev range!

The Mitsubishi variable intake cam timing from the factory on the Evo IX was better than the non-adjustable cam timing on the I-VIII. Still, it was far from optimized.

I haven't asked, but if Shiv is indeed controlling VANOS, he's probably trying to ascertain if he can improve the power characteristics throughout the rev range with the stock turbos. Maybe the BMW VANOS mapping is awesome. Maybe its not, but its probably what Shiv is going to find out.

FWIW, Shiv pioneered good Mivec mapping through Evo ECUs before anyone else did. Lots of people who had no clue what to do with it have since copied it to some degree.

Shiv, think you could post a map for V1.47 that accommodates catted down pipes until V.2 is out among all of us who ordered (like me)? I have UR catted DPs coming in one week and hate that I won't be able to maximize any gain from them because I have no map to best utilize them.

By showing uncorrected numbers, it's pretty hard to cheat I can post up the actual raw dynojet run files for you to look at yourself if you want.

So unless someone carved out 1000lbs from the dynojet roller, it's safe to say that the results are 100% valid. The Acura that dyno'd just minutes before us made 155whp

Damn congrats!

Is it safe to assume we'd be able to get these numbers with a turbo back exhaust (catted DP) and V2 with an updated, perhaps a DP map running 93 octane and default settings? Since you were running no DP and just exhaust with V2.x and race gas, are the gains from race gas similar to the gains from DP?

Seems like when Vishnu is caught up with PROcede V2 orders, I will order my v1.47 and v2 to boot...hopefully a DP map will be out by then! Now go put that car out on the track!

The potential of the 335 truly is remarkable. With: V2, DPs, exhaust -> 400+ whp; LSD, light wheels, extreme tires, sways, coilovers; weight loss program; amped cooling; brakes, WOW!

Congrats, that's some serious power for just an ECU and catback. These engines are proving to be beasts!

Fantastic news, thanks for putting this up Shiv, however it only ups the anticipation level. I remember you telling me in the parking lot at Bimmerfest that running 100 octane would pay off later and it looks like it has!

The results were to be expected and now it's official.

...officially worse of a wait than the night before Christmas as a kid...and the sad thing is I don't think I'm joking.

Is everybody else also a September 6th'er?

stuff:
V2
RR DP w/highflow cats
100 octane
RD Sport Ex.

Some one had to climb Mt Everest when everyone said it was impossible. I applaud Shiv for taking that step up into the thin air to show what can be done.

What can we expect on 93 octane with the same map, procede and stock otherwise?

Just corious, i guess like 385-390whp/ 405-415lb-tq?

catm3-- The PROcede map we are using is very similar to the v2.0.2 map that we will be posting up later this week. It is even running the exact same default torque values (80-90% in the low end/midrange and 100% above 6000rpm). We did make some changes to account for the extra octane, among other things. FWIW, we are controlling another engine function right now (more than just boost, afr target and timing). We have yet to determine if its necessary though. If it is, it'll be a simple firmware/wire loom update. If not, not. We still have more testing to do.

shiv
He's talking about an other wire loom and I haven't seen my V2 loom on the doorstep!

Shiv, congrats on the achievement.
