What are you guys doing about the inside part of the shadowline? I taped, sanded and cleaned everything off tonight, painting tomorrow.... Are you guys leaving the silver showing on the inside? At least on the e46's the shadowline extends beyond what can be painted with the doors closed...

I am planning on painting it with the doors open....

Suprised this hasnt come up...

Thanks again for the write up Bake!!

The textured finish that rolling the paint allows is what makes this worth it!

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but instead using spray paint, would that work?

Lol, going to do this. Plastidipped mine but I feel like this is just an easier way to do it.

I did this about a year and a half ago and now I'm looking for a way to go back! First I noticed a lot of chips , especially around the edges. I tried to cover with plasti dip, so I "repainted" the whole trip with i but it still chipped. Any suggestions on how to remove it all? I'll probably go vinyl.

I removed my trim in less than 5 minutes without breaking anything.

Extra sanding

Try to sand in between paint layers with very fine sand paper like 6000 grit. This worked really well for me when I was working on a piano black finish for some art. (Granted I was painting wood.) I don't know if this will work well or not just food for thought.

Yeah I tried to plastidip mine and it looked ok, but chipped way to easily and you can't really touch it up. And F remasking everything. Plastidip is good for small things like emblems.

You should use some clear coat (flexi coat) on the trim. There is a noticeable difference in contrasts between your middle and outer window trim. Looks ok though. I didn't have much success with plasti dip. It peels way to easy.

Thanks for the tip. Difference in contrast is due to the garage lighting. It came out very even.
