Umm what is this?

Hey guys noticed this tonite. Any ideas what this is? The car has 69k miles on it.

I'm not sure if this is normal or not and I'm pretty new to BMW. Can't tell by the video but it's coming from the front driver side wheel well. Thanks for all the help.

Idle is about 650 rpm, that's about 11 revs per second, so this is not directly related to the idle speed as such. Otherwise it would be a more constant ticking noise. But it is, well it sounds weird. Can you at least home in on more or less where it's coming from?

What does it do when you drive, or lift the revs off idle?

Well it sounds like it's coming from behind the drivers side front wheel well

What engine is this? Sounds like a typical NA 6 cylinder, N51/2?

Can't be normal, but tricky to say what it is. I am trying to consider if it could be some sort of noise from a DISA unit, but not sure. Are there any things that change this noise when you hear it, engaging a gear, etc. If it's a manual, does it continue to make this noise even if the clutch is depressed?

Its auto. My roomate said he heard it the other day while it was idling. The video was taken after it had warmed up. I dont hear anything from inside the cabin while driving.

Did you find out what the noise was? I have at he same clicking noise on my 2008 328i.
