My car is officially in production!!!

Couldn't hold out any longer, and called the 800# and heard these sweet words:

"Your car is currently in production, with an estimated completion date of 1/14"

Now that I've cleared that hurdle, I can begin stressing about how long until it gets on a vessel.

And then how long to cross.

And then how long in inspection.

And then how long to get to Wagner BMW in Shrewsbury, MA.

And then how long to get to my house (this will be the shortest time...LOL).

I'm with ya, bud. My 800 message today was that my 335 is in the paint shop with an estimated completion date of 1/8/08.

Everyone that's been through this process understands what you are going through. I ordered my car on December 8th, it was built the week before Christmas and it left Germany last week. I should have it the first week of February.

Waiting so long for something I want so bad is EXTREMELY difficult. "Normal" people don't understand what we go through, but enthusiasts do.

I should've just taken what they had on the lot! LOL.

I know it will be worth it. Gives me more time to save a little $. Plus I can continue to let my Outback get beat to hell by the snow and salt.

Congrats. I didn't let my CA tell me the production number because I know I'll be checking it every four hours. She told me it would be in SC for Performance Center Delivery Feb. 21st and that's all I can stand to know. On one hand I'm so giddy and impatient, but on the other I feel all big balla, ordering a car to my spec. and waiting around.

Yup, called again this morning. Shockingly, no change in status since Saturday (LOL).

Actually, I was hoping for detailed status like "In Paint Shop" or something. Do you get this level of detail with the automated system or do you need to speak to someone?

Thanks.

Yes, the automated system just told me that my baby is "in the Paint Shop" with an estimated completion date of 1/8.

what the???? I ordered mine on the 8th, was done with production on the 16th. up to now it still says 'your vehicle was released to a carrier and is awaiting transportation to the port of exit. I called the 1800 and spoke to someone, they said it looks like it's sitting at the port waiting for a vessel. For two weeks now.

TJW,
I think your gonna like Wagner, they have some very good people in that dealership. Service dept is the best I've ever dealt with. With all the salt on the roads out here, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to have a new car arrive, but I know how anxious you must feel. Good luck with your new car and welcome to e90post.com.

Thanks, dmichael.

I was apprehensive about going to FMW even though they're closer. I read a nice review about Tom Quinn at Wagner on one of these forums so I gave him a shot. Very no-nonsense dealership so far, though the only paperwork I've done is the BMW credit app and order form. Hopefully p/u day goes smoothly.

Called 800# again this AM. Just says "In production" still...no specifics on body, paint, etc.

Definitely glad to be missing a good chunk of winter with this timeline, but still dying for the car!

BTW...I'll be starting a BLOG on http://www.edbmw.com/blog/ in the days and weeks ahead on the BMW experience from a non-enthusiast's point of view.

Stay tuned.

I was "talking to" FMW, but as soon as I found out they were being bought out by Herb, thats when the talking stopped. Under the old ownership, they were a top notch dealer.

I ordered on 12/17 and it just went into production. I ordered a 328xi through Wagner BMW in Shrewsbury.

Remind me in 8 years or so when I order my next BMW to avoid the holiday production delay!!!!

UGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

Just called the 800# (second time today) and this time it transferred me to a live person. For the last few days, the automated system has said "In Production' but the phone rep just told me that it is in..."Paper Production Phase" and that the actual production phase won't begin until Thursday or Friday.

That's like a whole other week!

I can't take another month and a half of this.
