The 6 cylinder BMW PE system is totally different. It involves cutting of the midpipes (to remove mid silencer I think) as well as a new rear silencer. It is a much more full on exhaust job and not a simple bolt on silencer like this. The only part # I had for the 6cyl PE was 18 10 0 443 581 BUT this is for E90 and E91, According to RealOEM and the ETK it won't fit on E93. This makes sense as the E93 is from the coupe form, and the exhaust system for the coupe is different to the sedan. It is slightly longer or shorter, I don't remember, but it is different. I have not been able to find a part number for the PE for e92/93. It probably exists, try asking someone in the USA with a 328i E92 or 93. Just remember though, in the USA they use the N52B30 whereas your car has an N52B25 I think. It's the same engine essentially but a different size so I'm not sure whether that makes a difference too. Best thing to do would be to find an enthusiastic parts guy at a dealership. They will say that they will not sell you the part, but just insist that you are simply researching to find the right part and you just want their help with that.

No actually. I think I'm done (for now at least anyway). I feel I'm at the point where I have done the main things I wanted to do, and I COULD go for more but it's just not worth it. I'd love a set of the 313 wheels. But thats ~4-5k. Then after I get the wheels, the empty space between brake disc and rim will be too much so I'd need bigger brakes... ~another few K's. Then I'd feel silly about having a BBK on a 320i so maybe an engine swap? I wouldn't mind a sliiiiiiight drop just for a meaner stance. But its not worth it and its not exactly a high riding 4X4 at the moment either. Karbonwerke trunk maybe..but for over 1k.. forget it!

But seriously, there are no more mods I really want to do. Another set of wheels eventually (either standard 193M, 225M or 216 style). But I've heard there are problems with cracking on the 225M and they would be a b!tch to keep clean too. Do you have any suggestions on what to do? I'll also get some tyres soon but I don't think that counts as a mod.

Now I start saving for a new car. As you may have seen in the video I'm a green P represent! I get off in just over a year so then its time for some turboooss and powahh! I'm thinking of something like a 135i on BMWs full circle programme. New of course, theres no way I would buy a 2nd hand 135i. That way I can have fun with it for a couple of years and just return it at the end. Nothing else to worry about. That, or trade in current car for new gen 3er coming out soon, but I don't really want to say goodbye to my car so soon.

Then.. the sensible part of my brain kicks in and tells me to save up to put some money towards a house/flat/property. That way I can have an even nicer car a few years down the track.

SBC, since you and the car have plenty of life left I would say keep her n run her to the ground, invest in a money spinner investment(property or whatever), then save for a M3, is a win win that is if you not set on making the 135 your new beast

Btw you will love this, got a fitting manual for the exhaust from Schmiedmann so you can check if that space can be adjusted.

Thats awesome! Steve called me to say that BMW Aus does NOT have these instructions, but he looked on the european database listing and DID find this. As seen on page 2, with the table of data, it says that the silencer can be installed without the use of the springs. At the moment I still have the springs in there as it allows for a bit of give and movement. Removing the springs will make the rear much more rigid and it won't have that small amount of tolerance for engine shake + vibrations and other general stuff that will cause it to move slightly. I suppose BMW says it is okay without springs, so I could give it a try.... it just sounds less secure and all the other applications still use the springs when installed, so what makes my car special enough to not need them?

Some pics for comparison. (compare bottom of bumper line in relation to the tips)

Hey cruvon, I'd rather continue the discussion with you here then on the youtube video.

I tried recording some exhaust note on a crappy $5 mic I found lying around on my table and it didn't turn out too good. I think I'll invest some dosh on a decent setup. What do you recommend for a reasonable amount of money?

Same argument goes for:

Rims
Tints
Stereo
Carbon fibre bits

Because a nice sounding exhaust system brings about greater enjoyment when you drive the car.

+1

Also, I am a realist. I have a 320i. Short of adding a turbo or supercharging it there is not much performance that can be gained. The mods I have done are to enhance my "enjoyment when driving the car," as Jeef Beef correctly states. Also, N/A cars have minimal potential for improvement compared to forced induction motors. Even if I had a 330i and got the BMW PE the end result would be the same. No real performance upgrade.

yupz, you will need a decent mic to handle good sound. I tried the inbuilt mic on my HD camcoder and was mediocre so had to get that Canon mic for it. Mines specifically for the Canon camcoder I use else you could have used it. Also think there is a limit of 12 or 24 mins continuous recording in HD on your DSLR depending on the format chosen. Just looked up some for your 5D that seem to be popular

Sennheiser MKE 400 mic
Rode NTG-2
RODE SVM

The cheapest one seems to be the Azden SMX-10 for under $75.00 from Adorama listed by amazon.com. Check on B&H Photo and Ebay too or see if you can hire them from someplace for a day.
http://www.amazon.com/Azden-High-per...2392651&sr=8-1

Not familiar with your cool DSLR, how do you intend connecting the 2 mics as you originally intended? Do you have mounts for them?

Exactly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and cosmetic improvements are for ones own enjoyment while driving as SBC aptly summarised. Most performance mods too hardly see the track or are hardly used for what they were intended for but look sweet on modded cars so are great to have. The Performance exhaust crosses over between cosmetics and great sound so is a very attractive mod and performance improvements are subjective to what one intends using the car for.

Its like why did I buy the your BMW performance brakes off you? the brakes on my car stops well enough anyway. We're all looking for that special uniqueness that only our car has and no other BMW has. Whether its one thing or a combination of things.

It says:
Fits on models: E90LCI

316I N45N
318I N46N
320I N46N

My car is not LCI.
It's 320i N46B

just send Pierre Petersen (pierre@schmiedmann.com ) an email with your VIN and model details and he should be able to confirm..when I asked him he said should fit a pre-lci but just reconfirm with him.Are you sure yours ends in B?..did you check the cars model spec on http://realoem.com/bmw/select.do by entering your VIN number?

Thanks cruvon.

Yes, it should fit but I'll send him an email to confirm.

My engine is N46N and not N46B, as I was thinking.

Looks like at the next meet all the 320i's will have better sounding exhausts than the 6cyl models

Time for more of us to start getting some mods...
