iPhone4 - anyone had problems playing through AUX?
Recently been having problems playing music through AUX in the car with my iPhone4.
When I first got it, it was working fine. But now nothing plays through AUX on car speakers, can just hear the music on the phone itself. Any ideas any one?? Cheers |

Will your iPhone play trough normal headphones correctly? It may ne a fault with the jack plug if it won't play through headphones either. If it does try changing the jack lead. Mine plays through the USB with no issues

the cable i have is a dock to usb and aux. it lets me connect the usb to micro usb cigarette charger and aux in armrest on one end and the dock end goes to phone.
so not using the headphone jack at top basically. this is the cable i use - https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newe...gy/IPH3N1U2AB/ |

i dont think there is a setting to switch between sources. iphone doesnt behave like that, in the past (and with my old 3G before), soon as you connect the lead the music on the phone speakers stops and comes through AUX to car speakers.

I got Iphone 4 and it works fine with the Aux in my vehicle. Might be a faulty jack some where or a dodgy cable.

I have seen a post like this before, with someone trying to get a non-genuine 'Y' cable to work - pretty sure once he switched to the proper cable, things worked fine!
Thats assuminy you have 6FL (USB port in armrest) - if not you dont have ipod connectivity (with car control over ipod) - you can only connect using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm headphone jack type lead with all control over the ipod done manually using the ipod itself. |

I think the phone will only detect the presence of the lead plugged into itself, so maybe your ipod lead / socket is not working. I can't see how the phone could detect the presence of the aux socket in the car as it's just a stereo socket. |

think its sorted now!
i use the lead coming from the armrest to my iphone which i place in the small compartment near the handbrake, i leave the armrest closed which must of pinched/kinked the lead over time. i flexed it about, connected it back to phone, switch to ipod and selected a track and switch the radio to AUX - all worked fine. i been using it this way for a while. was meaning to find a better way to feed the wire under the centre dash trim and to a cradle. still looking for a decent cradle to hold the iphone in a good location. any ideas?? |

Has anyone else noticed (or it could be just me) that the iPhone4 has more of a hissing noise when playing through a 3.5mm cable (AUX) then the iPhone 3GS?
