Pick me a new DD

Hey guys,

So here is my Current Lineup:

06 H3
07 S2000
11 GTI
11 1M (on the way)

Now I'm giving my mom the GTI since she likes it so much.

Im taking her 03 325i since she doesn't want to deal with the constant issues from it. It has about 120k miles on it. Any estimate what i could sell it for guys?

Also the GTI was my DD. I loved it. I need a decent replacement.

If i can get $5k for the 325i ill be happy. Im willing to spend another $15k in cash and just buy another car outright. The 1M deposit + my recent watch purchase is depleting most of my funds lol

So what should i get with a $20k budget without including taxes; etc. ?? Im not sure what kind of dd i really want

Brand new Mini Cooper hardtop?
Used Mini Cooper S?
Used 2007 328i/xi?
Brand New Fit?
Brand New Insight?

I would vote for the Golf TDI as well.

Why not just drive the 1M? You'll get 30MPG on the highway with it anyway if you baby it and you won't pay the upkeep of having multiple cars.

IMO I don't know why would would ever buy an M car if you didn't need some kind of practicality. Otherwise you would buy a Porsche or similar lol.

my s2000 is far from practical. Its has a full track suspension and will be gutted and supercharged again soon. Shooting for 500+ who at 2500 or under lbs.

The reason why i wouldn't drive the 1M is because amy daily commute is 10 miles (roundtrip) to a ghetto ass train station. Nicer cars do get broken into in hopes for a gps; etc. Plus on my gti I've been parking it there for 2 months and lardy have multiple dings and dents. I wouldn't leave any really nice car or anything that i would care that got dented at the train station.

The 1M will be for nights and weekends. My s2000 is for auto-x and track. H3 is for winter.

Also i didn't buy the porsche because the cayman r and cayman s left me unsatisfied IMHO. The 911 carrera and carrera s weren't THAT great for me to spend $100k. The only porsche i wanted, after actually driving them, was the gt3.

Ehhh she liked it and wanted it so why not? it's only a car. and she knows i get the itch every year to switch a car lol.

I would sell the H3 but we get some horrible weather in NY these past 3 years. The H3 was the only car that got out of my driveway during the last blizzard. The only way i would replace the H3 would be for a wrangler.

Well if it's going to be a DD, why not something WAY more practical like a chevy cruze or ford focus? They are nice to look at, get somewhere from high 30's to low 40 MPG and lots of good gizmos and gadgets standard.

Also they can be had for under 20.

I would DD that 325 to the train station at that point its paid for its already there it's cheap. I would not leave my GTI at any train station (Huff wheels are attracting to thieves, along with the 2.0t engine). Buying a new Fit etc is a waste.

Get a reliable beater/tow vehicle you can park at the train station. A used Ranger or Tacoma maybe, or a small suv.

from the choices you listed, go with a FIT or my suggestion would be a 4 or five year used GTI...

Used Lexus IS300. I just test drove one a week ago. Pretty capable and comfy. Just make sure the specimen you buy is taken care of; the one I test drove had little problems all over the interior. Plus, it didn't have an auxiliary jack.

Like others have said, I'd scrap the H3 and get a TDI.
