All these problems sound weird to me.. I'm at 9k and although I go into limp literally daily, I've never had another problem. I just turn my car off and on and my limp goes away. I think it has to do with driving like an idiot in the hot whether

It out. Will keep driving like this for a few days and see if I keep having problems. Was planning to pull my tune anyway as I understand there may be a new software update I should get before I install my FMIC. What software version are you running shockin?
I have 2.42 I believe

@ Shockin330i

Weird how that is happening, mine has 12k miles and I have only (Not tune related) experienced long crank a couple times. I hope you get your situation resolved.
Well you at least have to take off the canbus. but if you feel like something is wrong its always best to take tunes off.

But just because it doesn't for some reason, doesn't mean that the HPFP is failing.

I don't think its the hpfp. Weird thing is my car use to always prime when unlocking. Now I noticed that it doesn't do it at all. I'm going to let my car sit for about 10 hours or so today and see if it fails to start again. I'm going to take the car in anyway and have them update the dme again and maybe get the 2.44

Funny thing is I got long cranks in cold weather, now I am getting stalls in hot weather. Never had it where it wouldn't turn over though. It _does_ seem like it only starts doing it once the car is hot and not in the mornings. It is always at low RPM in first/second seems to be around 1.5-2k RPMs. I had it happen yesterday taking a turn in 2nd giving it some gas. Completely stalled on me about 30 min later at a light in 1st.

@N55 yeah, taking off the tune is going to be a terrible pain. I just would rather not be worried about it.

@shockin, thanks, I need to check my version. I need to sort out what I have but it is whatever came with it when I got the car back in January.

@shiv, thanks for the info, that makes sense and explains why I haven't been hearing it all the time.

I've had issues... Long Cranks, 6-8 seconds start-ups with codes showing up with the BT tool: : which is, drum roll; a shadow code for "fuel high pressure on enabling of injection: pressure too low"

Also thrown CEL's at partial low throttle while going up ramps. "Engine Malfunction, reduce power, blah blah blah" But the X responds normal and doesn't have reduce power at all...

I'll be going to the dealer soon myself... Already took my Stg 1 out, and I still get these problems. And some of these above problems were occurring before i put the tune in, so don't say it's a symptom of the tune.
As I've said in the past, the N55 still has the same issues the N54 has/had.

Keep us posted on what the dealer says. I have had a few 5 second cranks, but have no codes (besides 12253)

Simple to fix that, tie a zip tie around the hose... That's what I did for my exhaust, no code...

Appt with Dealer on the 22nd... Found a whole bunch of SI-B's that apply to my X... A couple of which deal directly with Long Cranks, or Cranks with no start..

--------
We need a Sticky with the BT codes for the N55... Does anyone have a comprehensive listing, or a start of one?

At the dealership, they have been re-programing my X since 10am, told me 3-6 hour wait... Then they will see if the HPFP & LPFP codes pop up again.. I know they will, just a shame it won't happen until after I leave the dealership, and I'll have to make another appointment to get that done...

Dealer did a Full Programming as per SIB 16 01 11... Anybody know what SIB 16 01 11 states, or what the issue related to it is? Can't find anything on the NHTSA website for that one.

Theres a DEFECT CODE: 00 16 69 01 00 on the Invoice

----------Update-------------
Very Weird, the SIB 16 01 11 is for 2010 X5's, not 2011 X5's... But it stated that its to solve a CEL that occurs because of an error in the Car's Software...

Service Action: Program Control Units (DMTL)

MODEL
E70 and E71 vehicles with N55 engines produced from 7/12/2010 to 11/20/2010

SITUATION
The following fault code memory entry may be stored in the Digital Engine Electronics (DME):

3227: DMTL leak diagnosis pump, activation: Line disconnection

The Service Engine Soon lamp (MIL) is activated if the error is present in 2 consecutive driving cycles; however, the emissions have not been adversely affected.

CAUSE
DME software error

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves E70 and E71 vehicles with N55 engines produced from 7/12/2010 to 11/20/2010.

In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Service Action completed or is affected by this Service Action, first check the B-pillar label for code number 590. If code number 590 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 590 has not been punched out, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.

PROCEDURE
Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.40.3 or later.

Vehicle integration (new): E070-10-12-503 or later.

Whatever happened with this? I just popped a SES on the way home. Once home, did the code check inside the JB4 and it came up the same 28A0.
