2 Times in 1 Month, HPFP died...

March 20th, I had my HPFP replaced, now it's April 22nd, and last night my fuel pump went out. It was too late, they couldn't loan me a car, and wouldn't give me a ride home. I had to borrow my dads beater truck, and now that's breaking down too.
FML, ha
Thanks for listening to my vent.

I feel your frustration, my car went in the shop as well on 4/2 because the car shook terribly and went to limp mode. Got the car back 4/7 with a new HPFP, car runs great, for about 60 miles. Then 4/13 the car had the same behaviors that originally started on 4/2, took the car in again and the tech changed the Low Side Fuel Pump and 3 injectors. I also complained about rattle from the valve on the drivers side exhaust and they ended up replacing it with a brand new unit, the rattling is now gone. The car's ecu was also updated, don't know what update on the top of my head but after getting the car back on 4/20 =) she runs like a whole new car. The throttle response is a lot better, almost seems like they did fix the lag problem. I wish this was the end of my story but the next day when the sun was out, I noticed a huge scratch on the side skirt that I know wasn't there because I washed the car myself prior to bringing it in the shop... I call my SA and he promised me it would get re-painted... In the end, its great they are fixing it but what happens when we are all out of warranty??

I have nothing useful to add to the thread (because I have the 328i). However, I did want to say that I am sorry you are having this problem, and hope you get it fixed soon.

Man another Cali car. Has Arnold mandated to mix piss with gasoline there?

Best of luck.

yep. i think they all have to be 10% by the end of 2009. right now they all have some amount of ethanol in it as an oxygenate because they cant use MTBE anymore.

Seriouly. I've noticed most HPFP failures have happened, seems like it or I'm off here, in CA area.

Could owners that have multiple HPFP failures confirmed that you don't have 93 octane where you're at? Does CA have 93 octane?

nope they don't, and they won't bring 92 back. Reason: it costs too much. You a_holes of gas companies.

has to be 3. i don't think it would qualify anyway since technically it gets fixed for a little while then breaks again
