P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance. Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. The PCM detects that the actual MAF sensor frequency signal is not within a predetermined range of the calculated MAF value for more than 4.0 seconds.
P02D3 - I can't find that specific code in my quick look through the various lists, but it seems to be in the general range of codes for individual cylinders, perhaps like an injector?

P02D3 is injector #4 learning offset. This is a common injector #2 or#4 problem. The injector could be the problem or it could be software issue, carbon built-up, ...

Thanks, so it doesn't look related to my past issues? Which had to do with replacing the EGR and metering valve, and also replacing the UREA tank? |

My car is 2010. I had the EGR, metering valve and urea tank replaced prior my injector problems. Strange coincidence!

Replacing injectors takes usually few days. Car sit at dealer 1-2 before they can take a look at it for diagnostic. Injector are not available locally, it usually take a 2 days to get injector and 1 day to install it. I would guess 4-5 days from the time I drop and pick it up my car

Finally got the car back. They found carbon in the EGR valve and had to replace all 6 fuel injectors. Errors show Zero quantity adaptation

Sounds like yet another DDE issue to me. I say you'll see the SES light again.

Yep, mine went on again just now. P02d3 again. I just got it back it seems. They sent the cylinder head out, swapped the high pressure turbo, and all 6 injectors and updated the software. UGH!!!!!

You're absolutely right, I drove it for a few days fine. Then it came on for one day. Now the light is off. Not sure if I should still take it back to the dealership with no light on, should it be a stored code?

I'm down in Savannah, GA and my SES light has come on driving back and forth between Atlanta and Savannah three times in six months. I'm at 33k miles on my 2010 335d. I've had the #6 cylinder injector replaced three times. Today I'm back in the damn loaner car and I have the "zero adaptation quantity" blues, again! What's bad is that the loaner car at this dealership actually remembered my smart phone and paired with it when they picked me up!
Please help... I don't know what to do and I'm at my wits end. |

What about all of the reports of visually identified carbon buildup? Could that be DDE related? (sorry, I'm not very mechanically inclined). |

Carbon issues are not related to the DDE. All direct injected (all new high efficiency including gasoline engines) suffer carbon issues. There is no fuel flowing in the intake to act as solvent to clean the intake paths. The diesel is a bit worse than a gasoline engine (we're introducing soot into the engine from the EGR). It appears to me (everything I'm writing is my opinion), that the carbon issues were worse on cars that accumulated a lot of mileage before the EGR recalls were done. Now that we are post EGR recalls, I think we're seeing a drop off in the carbon complaints.
Bottom line carbon issues will never be gone, it will occur under certain conditions. But as I expected, BMW has developed a tool and procedures for cleaning the carbon without having to remove the head, which dramatically lowers the cost of the cleaning. I found youtube videos of this cleaning being done on a 335i and a mini, neither of which is diesel. If I end up having to clean the carbon from the intake/head once in 150K miles, while I will be disappointed, it will not be a surprise or something to make me dump the car. But I am expecting the cost of that cleaning to be under $1000. |
