Is the toyota supra a legend?

Okay so I been going back and forth with my friend regarding the Toyota Supra, he thinks that the supra is not a legend compaired to a 911, Corvette, Ferrari.

What do you think and why?

Definitely. It's up their with tons of icons. I'd slot it next to the all the generations of the 911 and Skyline GTRs.

Yup, total legend. If you were into the Asian scene at all, the Supra was the cream of the crop.

Just because Japan has been busy making regular cars and has pretty much abandoned the halo car market doesn't diminish the Supra's standing in sports car history in any way.

But since you mentioned it, the Supra is very much like the GT-R, not in mechanics, but in the fact that it was an attainable super fast, super whippable car. Young adults (ok, dudes in their 20's with spiky hair) that couldn't afford an NSX or Porsche could dream of affording a 50k Supra. Add some mods to that puppy and you'd go really, REALLY fast for a relatively cheap amount of money.

Trust me I agree, we got into this discussion because he wanted me to sell my 335i and get a used 996tt and mod it. I told him that I will not get rid of my 335i since I do love it so much but if I wanted a crazy fast car I would buy a supra over the 996. He owns one so naturally he got mad, and said," yeah, its fast but you can make a honda civic fast but its not a legend like the 911."

Porsche and Ferrari cars have pedigree. However, the Supra is an iconic legend in its own right.

definitely a legend. i still think the car holds up looks wise to this day. and it still gets a lot of respect on the street.

im not a fan of the supra as much as i used to be, but cant deny the supra dominated jgtc races before it was replaced with the sc430. i personally liked the nsx and gtrs better...

Good point. I, too, preferred the NSX. It was just more graceful than the Supra. But that doesn't take away from the fact the the Supra was a beast. It's like this...

obviously your friend doesn't know that, if you use Ferrari's launch control mechanism in the F430 3 or 4 times, you'll need a transmission rebuild as well...

i gotta hand it to him, he actually has a point here - the Supra may have become a legend in a relatively short period of time, but you may as well call the 911 the epitome of all sports cars with all the accolades its racked up over the last half-century...and this is coming from a Supra owner. relative to the 911, the Supra is hardly legendary...BUT, it still maintain that the Supra is a legend. that being said, i do still think your friend is being quite narrow minded, so i imagine he came made this valid point without really knowing what makes it valid lol.

Said it many times and will continue to say it. Supra, RX7, and Skyline are the top 3 pinnacle of Japanese performance. The Supra is indeed a legend.
