Personally would go with something slimmer, you may run the risk of blocking potential air flow that feeds into the intake via the kidney grilles.

Have you heard of anyone doing a removable setup with a manual on/off switch?
Shouldnt be a problem doing that.. Personally I´d go with a visionX or Rigid lightbar if I was going to put it on the roof. Slimmer design and puts out a wider lightthrow then the ff200 does. Maybe something like the Rigid industries SR or SR2 series that is only 1.5" heigh.. You could get a 40" wide one if your REALLY looking for light. Just dont buy those cheap POS ledbas off ebay. They put out lumens, but only range to about 50 yards. More of a worklight then a driving light. If you DO want to buy from ebay, this seller has some resonable quality items, but still a long way off what visionX or rigid industries offer.
http://www.ebay.com/usr/sunyee-au?_t...88.m1543.l2754 Just dont be fooled.. 10 degree is a spot beam and anything more then 20 degrees is a floodlight. More then 60 degreees is stupid on a car.
I´d very much advise AGAINST having a manual switch. The reason for this is that your probably going to be on highbeam in the car AND have a manual switch to shut down if you suddenly get oncoming traffic. Better to set it up using a relay that turns the roof lights on and off together with the cars highbeam. Pin 41 in X14260 on the footwellmodule goes hot on highbeam. You can use that to activate your relay for powering the rooflight.
BUT if you decide to go with a manual switch, then go for a LED bar with less then 120W draw and you can hook it up to your cigarettelighter socket, which is fused for 10 amps. 10 amps at 12V is 120W. Then just run the wires out the drivers side rear door. 13 gauge should be enough for 120W. Make sure the wires cant flap around in the wind..

Dont think it affects much in regards to intake.. The same size is used on the 335d, mine is a 2.0 diesel.. Doesnt run nearly as hot as a N54. Much more efficient. I´ve been driving around in 100+ degree weather with no issues. I also heard that the majority of cooling happens from the lower grill, not the kidneys. But you could ofcourse do something slimmer.. Like som Hella FF75 or Rigid SR 6" LED pods.. Those are only 1.6" high. The FF´s are very much to the sides of the kidneys, so I dont think they restrict that much.

Threw in some roofmounted LED bars.

Here is a buddys E61 525d

Now.. He just MIGHT be overdoing it, but then again he works for TRAFFICSEC, a trafficsecurity organisation that helps stranded motorists.

It gets in alright. People on this board are friggin hilarious about cooling. granted, a tuned 335i N54 will need alot more cooling then an efficient diesel. So thats kind of what you plan on. you need less, so you can stop more. He never had an issue

Found mine locally, but just google "Osram Nightbreaker D1S"
Powerbulbs have them http://www.powerbulbs.com/eu/product...ted-d1s-single

BUT!
if I was choosing today, I´d go for Osram Cool Blue Intense D1S instead. They are rated at the same lumens as the Nighbreakers, but Cool Blue Intense are whiter (at 5000K) compared to the nightbreakers "stock xenon" 4300K.
http://www.powerbulbs.com/product/xe...nse-d1s-single

I bet any of the lighting sponsors here that carry Osram could help you find them.

I thought that the brightest bulbs out there are the Osram 66240XNB (Nightbreaker) or the Philips 85122XV (Xtreme Vision)?

If the results I posted in post number 35 are to be believed. Cool Blue are not as powerful as the Nightbreakers.

Osram 66240 Standard - 785 lux
Osram 66240 CBI - 805 lux
Osram 66240XNB (Nightbreaker) - 863 lux

Philips 85122 Standard - 698 lux
Philips 85122WX - 586 lux
Philips 85122XV (Xtreme Vision) - Picture Unavailable - 763 lux
