How much should I pay for a 335i sport?

Hi guys,

At the moment I am looking a purchasing either a 335i or 135i.

The dealership have a space grey 335i sport w/ sunroof, dct in stock which is a demo, with 2,000kms on the clock.

No price on it, because they say its sold at new car prices, but alot more room for negotiation because its been driven. Dealer told me if I am lucky maybe $117,000.

Wanting to get idea's on prices people have paid to make sure I get a good deal.

Cheers

I'm assuming it's a coupe. The full retail drive-away on a new 335i coupe with the above options would be circa $134K.

As it's a used car and a demo to boot (probably driven hard over its 1st 2000ks), I would think that 20% off new price would be a good starting point, say $107K.

You should also find out the date of 1st rego, as you will only get the balance of the new car warranty (3 years from 1st rego). If it's been registered longer than 6 months, expect to pay less. Also find out the build date (label on inside of bonnet). If it's 2008, take another 10% off.

See the thread below as well, where RJWRJW paid ~$115K for a new 335i (post #21)...

Good Luck!

2000k's of 7000rpm changes on a cold engine. No thanks.

If you were looking at a 325 demo i'd say go for it but it's a 335, its a sports car and people don't test drive them to see how comfortable it is and they also dont drive around for 10mins warming the engine up before they give it a boot full. Your better off getting one that has been used by 1 owner with 10,000ks.

Dealers like to play games, they always say "you'll be lucky if I can do it at that price...."

You should be able to pick one up for $110k BRAND NEW 335i with MSport package + sunroof + 19" rims now that the government grant's gone.

If he tells you "blah blah, can't do it." Just tell him you're going to see another BMW dealer. There will be others that will take your money. If you have to travel further do it! You're spending big $$$, you should be willing to travel that extra more to get a better deal. Just remember, if you want a great deal, make sure you have a credit card/cheque, they will be willing to give you better deals if you can do the deal on the spot.

Why are cars so damned expensive down there? $117K AUD? That converts to $103K USD! I know it's a long way from mostly everywhere, but there is no way shipping costs that much.

If that's what you pay, it may be cheaper to come to the US, buy it and ship it back Down Under. You'd be hard pressed to spend over $55K USD for one here.

We have a lot of taxes slap on our cars.

If only the US makes right-handed cars.

I'd love to, but i'd have to stay in the US for 2 years to LEGALLY import the car to Australia, as you cannot import a vehicle that is sold in the local market until they are at least 15 years old.

Then you get to the shipping, compliance, RHD conversion issues and so on.

I would say this does make moving to the states look attractive, USD$100k hello Maserati Gran Turismo!
