Post Hostage Situation at BMW France Office Diffused

Police Subdue, Apprehend Man Who Allegedly Took Hostages At BMW-France Site

(AP) PARIS (AP) - Police say authorities have subdued and taken into custody an armed employee of BMW France who allegedly took hostages at the German automaker's offices in southwest Paris.

A police official says an elite anti-crime brigade in Montigny-le-Bretonneux helped free three hostages at the site. The alleged assailant, aged in his 50s, is said to have fired at least two shots in the office lobby. No one was injured.

The man was taken into custody a little more than 2 hours after police were notified Monday afternoon.

The police official spoke only on condition of anonymity about the incident Monday in keeping with his office's rules. Further details were not immediately available. No one answered calls by The Associated Press to the BMW France office.

He must've found out he didn't qualify for the upgrade.

This news story seems to be reported incorrectly all over the place. The perpetrator was apparently an unhappy E39 520d owner who'd threatened BMW France in the past.
