Dynaudio Esotar2 110 tweeters installed
My installer machined smaller faceplates and created custom tweeter pods for the 110s. They actually blend in reasonably well and don't obscure the mirrors. I also upgraded from the Helix DSP to the DSP Pro (thanks Don). Car sounds phenomenal. This is the best setup I have ever had (most expensive as well).

OMG, those domes are just waiting to be dented by an inquisitive finger or two...
Nice work Shiv, I bet it sounds fantastic.

You know that now there is one last thing left to do...... MW182's! - Those Jehnerts are sticking out like a sore thumb now!

These were a new pair that Jerry (Niebur3 on DIYMA) sold me at a substantial discount because they already have dimples (caused during shipment to Jerry). I may do some sort of grill on them at some point.

I love the MD100s, they image very well, except ... listen to the last 10 seconds of Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer, just before the song begins to fadeout. Drummer Manu Katche hits a few crash cymbals and my MD100s couldn't reproduce them gracefully.

I do have a pair of Morel MW220s (I think that is the model number), a pair of Dyn MW190s, and have ordered a pair of the Stereo Integrity shallow mount 6.5" woofers. May try them at some point.

High Qts drivers will probably not work well unless you are willing to open up the bottoms of the enclosures and allow the back wave to breathe to the outside. There already is a 2" drain hole in the floor pan, which is plugged with that green rubber grommet. I think it would allow enough air flow for most 6.5 and 8" drivers, knowing that the air now has two escape routes (kind of like a Dinan CAI ).

There is nowhere sensible to put 182s that would justify the work over using the Jehnerts.

Having heard both drivers (MW180), I beg to differ! It's not even close.

I have done A few dozen vehicles including a few of my own with 180/182 as dedicated midbass, so I know a bit of how they work. If it was a direct swap or minimal work, then my statement wouldn't have been made. However it is a good bit of work and a decent cost difference.

I love the MW 182's. Let's just say that when I get tired of my Morels, the Dyns are definitely going in. They may need to be shoehorned, but they will fit!

You heard them in the e9x series under the seats? How did they fit them if so?

Don said it would be tough to even squeeze MW162s under the seats. The way to go all Dyn would be to get the Jehnert doorboards and put MW162s in the doors.
However, I am pretty happy with the sound right now, so I am not inclined to mess with it. The Jehnerts are doing a good job. The Morels will fit, as will the Stereo Integrity woofers. My installer loves Dynaudio drivers in general and the MW182s in particular and has said that he can get them to fit. We had pulled everything out to take a look underneath the seats to see what was possible, He would remove the stock enclosures and fabricate custom enclosures under the seats. But when upgrading, you get to a point of diminishing returns and I think that replacing the Jehnerts is probably not worth the effort and expense.

Let me know how it works out fitting MW182s. I may follow in your footsteps some day. As I mentioned, if you pull everything out, including the enclosure, there is room. Heck, if Buwalda can get his HAT 8" drivers under the seats of his 535i, the MW182s shouldn't be that hard to fit.

To put this in perspective, I thought the Jehnerts were about at the same level as the OEM L7 woofers, perhaps a tad more snappy, but definitely lacking on the low end, and easily pushed to their limits at volume levels where I still wanted more, much more. My Morel CW-8's sounded much better, and went lower, but they too started distorting at higher volume levels. After switching to the HCW-10's, the midbass came alive in my car. It was like coming from a NA 328i and stepping up to a twin turbo charged 335i, big difference in performance all around. But still, I felt like the woofers were being held back by the OEM enclosures. So after opening them up to the bottom of the car, it finally unleashed the full capabilities of the woofers. To continue with the previous analogy, it was like going from a stock 335i to a tuned FBO 335i. Anyone who has tuned their N54 will know what I'm talking about. I am not bashing the Jehnerts, they are very good for what they do. I think 90% of the customers will be very happy with them. But there are always people like you and I who are fanatics about car audio, and we want the best. I am telling you, you probably have the best from 200Hz up and 70Hz down, but in between you can do much better, and I think you know it!

I tried to see if I could fit them in a standard under seat box, but found there was insufficient room for the basket and clearance for the seat. Maybe with a custom box, but then there's not much room for them to breath. I had MW160's in my E46 and they really needed the hole I cut in the door metal behind the pole vent. (Won't embed these as they're 1280 wide) MW180's test fit: http://caraudioarchive.net/repository/e93/ta_24.jpg http://caraudioarchive.net/repository/e93/ta_26.jpg Slight O/T these Phase Liners would have been interesting - no box under them in this pic: http://caraudioarchive.net/repository/e93/ta_27.jpg This one was just for a laugh as I have some ID8's knocking about: http://caraudioarchive.net/repository/e93/ta_21.jpg |

Oh mate nice try. They look like they are fitting under the seat though, but def not breathing at all. What are the mounting depth on these? Could not find it in its brochure.
Kai says he fit a 10" woofer by opening up the bottom of the car. How do you go about this? ..and the MW180s dont fit here? By the way, great install on these 110 tweeters
