No No NO! It won't be. But I do see where u r coming from. the 335d IS deceptively fast. BUT, it has got an engine that feels real laid back too. I just KNOW I'd wanna THRASH that 335i petrol engine every time I drove it...... just like I thrashed my Z4M roadster (just sold but not forgotten) this summer every time I got chance to (usually at night - hardly any traffic, cop cameras don't work (?)...... only the odd deer to worry about!)

And yes, I did seek out some proper English pot-holed country lanes and raised cats' eyes etc to properly investigate this. To sum up, the ride on the 19s is really a LOT better than it has any right to be! Its certainly vastly better than the 3.0d X3 SE (no sport suspension) I had for a while a year ago. As to why I think the 19s ride almost as well as the 17s (there really is VERY little in it at all) is a) because all tyres fitted to whatever size wheel are run-flats with VERY stiff side walls and b) the profiles aren't that much different from wheel to wheel - rears 17s 255/40, 18s 255/35, 19s 255/30. Only 10mm difference in profile across all wheel sizes and all runflats with very thick and rigid side walls.

As you can see, I agonised over this for some time before ordering my 335d coupe. I've gone for the 19s as I think they are sooooo cool-looking..... with very little to pay in terms of a harsh ride as aforementioned. Come trade in time, the 19s will be the wheels to have on the car (it will certainly book with 18s (and leather) here in the UK ) just like any 6 series needs the elipsoid 19s.

As for the rest of my spec for my car which will be with me in around 5 weeks:
335d coupe
space grey,
jade grey leather
19s
Alu trim
adaptive headlights
high beam assistant
blue tooth
Hi Fi speakers
comfort entry
anthracite headlining
storage pack

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

we have the 192 rides really well and looks the dogs :rocks:

i agree, d is too loose licence 'i' lets you know when you will loose your licence. At least with the d you can say 'Officer i had no idea i was going that fast.........'

after 2 months of ownership of the d, i can vouch for its deceptiveness, like i said in another thread this car is not only stealth in the traditional sense but also stealth against its own driver! suprises the hell out of you!

given the choice again i would still have gone d tho...

I had 10 points on my license at one point from driving diesels It is quite easy for the speed to creep up without you noticing. One PC Plod that pulled me said he did a lot of diesels that way.

Then again, the petrol does beg to be driven hard

My license is currently clean again (4 years since last points) let's see how long it stays that way come June...

Who had that speed camera hack for the sat nav again?...

335dcoupe - why would you get rid of a Z4M Coupe to get a 3 series coupe? I'm intrigued. I could understand if it was E90 for practical reasons but I'd see the 3 coupe as a step down from that.... personal preference etc.

Having just come back from 3 weeks in Africa on dirt tracks I now feel my car is like a magic carpet ride.

So I might spec 19's on the next car (A5??....need to drive one first)

Nice car!

I bought a 335D after my E46 M3 because I thought I would enjoy some long lost gentle cruising, lazy gearbox option, 40+ MPG etc etc ........

...... then I got it re-mapped ......... it's now see a gap and squirt, gearbox always in DS or manual mode, MPG as low as 7 MPG (yes 7 miles per gallon of DIESEL!) at times and very frequently find me travelling in triple figure speed ......

....... still, diesel rocks :rocks: :rocks:

Nick, your 335D looks more aggressive and is more scary to ride in than an E46 M3...

I can't imagine a lazy drive in that thing!!! :rocks:
