Updated Mr. 5 Intake
I thought I would start a new thread because this intake kicks complete A$$ over the other one.
For those who don't know, I started this thread when I was just toying with the idea: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...3538&highlight Here are the updates that I made: - I went from a 2.5" OD hose to a 3" ID hose. - I went from a 2" inlet pipe to a 3" inlet pipe. - I changed the filter in the bumper area from a 2" inlet opening to a 3" opening. - The new filter is the inverted filter that is used with the DCI intakes instead of the older one that I was using which had a smaller filter surface area and that had a flat end. So, in summary, I have the Macht Schnell drop in filter acompanied with one of the MAcht Schnell DCI filters that is connected to the stock air box via a crush proof 3" duct. Oh, BTW, I had an older aluminum connector from a K&N intake that was used on a Ford Ranger. I made a couple cuts to make it work.

Do you feel an increase in throttle response?

Wow, I didn't even notice how much bigger they were until you put them next to the stock ones. Any plans to change, if possible, the charge air suction lines? They look pretty restrictive.

I hate the sound that it makes and I hate the look. I would bet that this setup is just as good as the DCI if not better.

Not with the updates.
The older tests were done with the other version and if there was only .1 difference in the 60-130 test before then I'm very curious with this version.

Just curious why are you using duct piping I think it would make a huge difference if you switched to plastic intercooler pipe. Either way it looks really good.

Good dimensions now Mr.5 The intake can still be optimized a lot by making smooth transitions and unscroud the blocking to the front intake. I'm lazy and did it in Photoshop and leave the practical work to others

I might have missed it in your original thread, but why did you choose to use the flex hoses and not some silicone hoses and piping?

I truly believe that the setup right now will yeild great results. Honestly? Because it's less expensive and easier to work with.

I was thinking about adding somethign like the below. If it was threaded on the outside, a collar nut could be used to fasten it down.
