wow....i predict that next, someone will get a 'Y' splitter and make quads with no mufler. no joke. im sooooooooooooo tempted to do this rather than spend $1200-$1500 on a quad setup. wish i could really hear it in person.

i was thinking of doing quads because the 328 e92 doesnt have room for quads if you have a muffler but i bet getting rid of the muffler will make it possible. ill go to a shop soon and see if it can be done. that way i can make the back more aggressive to match the rest of the car

i was thinking about doing that, but then i was going to have to alter the rear bumper and i only had 150 to spend, and a bodyshop would probably charge me and arm and leg to cut the bumper like the other side. the muffler shop said they would have done the quads for 80 dollars more. but i didnt have the budget.

We need more sound clips. You guys are my heros. I also have a 325i with no chrome tips. I was thinking what muffler should I buy to replace the ugly stock tips. Awhile back, everyone on this forum wasbuying $500-$1000 exhaust, I eventually gave up interest.

Did you lose any bottom end power with loss of back pressure?
What size is the pipe you have on, 3"?
Is this going to void the warranty?

i made an alteration to the resonator so that i would have more back pressure. because since i already had my resonator previously removed, i had to put it back in because it was too lodu without it. so i basically left 2 inches of the pipe that i used to have there extending into the resonator. its kind of hard to explain, but there is about 2 inches long of the old pipe sticking inside the back of the resonator(on the side towards the trunk)

i think it is 2.5 inch pipe but im not 100%

and it might void warranty i dunno, but im going to put it back in t lease end.

Thanks for the answers. I think understand what you are saying; you replaced 2 in. of peforated pipe in the resonator with 2 in. of your exhaust pipe.

Did your exhaust shop make it easy to put back the old muffler? Is there anything you suggest when we ask or request the exhaust shop do when we do the muffler delete.

What do you think about running the one-into-two y splitter earlier and having two long tailpipes come out of the bumper?

nonono, i didnt REPLACE any pipe, there is a smaller diameter pipe sticking into the resonator.

i mean, theres really nothing special to ask, just tell them to cut it off so that it can be replaced at lease end.

im not too sure about the Y-pipe thing, it would look sick as a set of quad exhausts, but you might lose a lot of power due to the lack of backpressure

Not a quad set up, but a single to twin setup with the y splitter located further up front then connects to 3 in pipes or tips.

Not exactly like this.
