New Engine Sizes
Looks like BMW is dropping the 3.0 ltr diesel from the 3 series line up. I have been told by BMW that the 3.0 ltr diesel Tourer would never make it here. Why, it would be perfect. Even the new 3 series Tourer has had an engine size reduction. I was considering the upcoming 4 series but the 3.0 ltr powerplant has been dropped from the F30. One assumes the coupe would be the same.I lust after this 3.0 ltr motor and have decided I may forego the practicalities of a wagon for it. Do more engines get introduced as model cycle times increase?

I agree with you!!! I love the diesel !!!
I had 120d previously and was excited and thought that my next upgrade was a 3.0D but I got n54 instead :P I don't regret it but then it will be less painful to go to the petrol station all the time |

I think BMW Aus didn't sell enough 30d in the e90 to justify them to bring it again for the F30.

Hope this is not the case. My quandry. Get a newish E92 330D which will have a shape change in a year? And a ? drop in $s or see what happens in a couple of years as I've got that left on my extended warranty on the E91 320D. Mmmm... Don't see why these just can't be ordered if they are made for similar markets.

It is a shame they aren't bringing the 3.0d here. I have driven various models with that engine and it never failed to impress me, even in bigger cars like the X5, but in the E90, it was truly awesome
