Isn't the limiter for the 325 set at 130mph?

I remember reading this on the website before I bought my car, but I hit 130, then kept going a little over. (Unfortunately, the road wasn't long enough for me to keep going any faster )

Well I don't have sports pkg, but I've exceeded 130 (wasn't trying to go higher tho). I need to investigate this further...

PS. What exactly does the limiter do? Does it turn off the engine, or does it just slow the car down?

speedo isn't exactly accurate. Someone else probably knows the actual figure of how much 'inflation' the speedo gives you.

the governor will simply not allow the throttle ofeed more gas to the engine, thereby not allowing to continue accelerating.

Yeah I tested this again and found that (according to the speedometer) I couldn't go over 135.

I believe that is incorrect as the governor can be lifted with aftermarket software (in the near future).

This must be a US thing, because my Euro 325i has no limiter - it will go right up to 152mph according to BMW.

I believe that BMW makes all speedometers fast by approximately the same amount. Based on how far my speedometer is off, your speedometer would need to read around 140mph before your actual speed would be 130mph. It would need to read around 145mph before you would be going 135mph. Here is a little table of actual speed vs. displayed speed.

Actual Displayed
100 107
110 118
120 129
130 140
150 161
160 172

yep thats true also, but if u change ur fuel pump to increase flow, and therefore putting more gas to the engine causing it to accelerate

I don't think I will ever go 135 with my 330i Non ZSP but It wouldn't be bad to remove the limiter If i plan to take my car on a track or something (if it doesnt the warranty)

My chart was based on my speedometer reading vs. a GPS device at highway speeds, and then extrapolated out to extreme speeds (100+ mph). It is entirely possible that the speedometer is off by even more above 100mph. Also, I had an X3 loaner not too long ago and the speedometer wasn't off by that much, so not all BMWs are off by the same amount.
