Show us your home theater system!

I'm working on this small home theater project on a budget for under $2000 bucks.

So far I have recently purchased:

Samsung LN55C630 55" 1080p 120 Hz LCD
Onkyo HT-S3300 home theater in a box
Bell'O AVSC-2055B TV Stand
PS3 Slim
Atlantis speaker stands
front speaker wall mounts
16 gauge speaker wire

This is what mine is turning out to look like so far, it will be done soon as soon as the speaker stands/mounts come in the mail:

Just out of curiosity, wanted to see everyone's home theater to see what it looks like so I can steal some ideas!

Meh. I'm too lazy. If I had high end sweet ass gear I'd make it look sweet. But thats a $15 walmart stand and a $20 ikea table. Stereos probably coming up on 4-5years old. One day when I'm out of school I'll have some $$ and have a bomb ass stereo setup.

i just got back from CES and they're pushing it harder than ever. the technology is getting better, but i don't think it will be perfect until they find a way to perfect glassless 3d, which is still very prototypical.

we'll be seeing a lot of passive 3d tv sets coming out. while an improvement over the active 3d, it still requires the use of those silly glasses. the 3d projectors that are coming down the pipe are pretty cool...that offers the best promise for 3d use. i can't really see the benefit of 3d on a smaller set. it's just something that looks much better on a large format.

Ill get a pic of mine tomorrow and update this but for now Ill list what I have....

56" Samsung DLP 1080p
Yamaha 550 watt 5.1 receiver (rxv -499 I think it is, about 3 years old now)
Xbox 360 and samsung blu-ray player
Definitive technology speakers: 1 pro center 1000, 4 pro monitor 1000's, and one pro sub 800 (8' 300 watt)

Ill say this, the system gets LOUD and sounds super good, and I think I spent about $1400 or so on it? That was a few years ago though. I cant even turn it up to where I would like to, since I live in a townhome. When I used to live in a house, you could hear it on the street when I had it cranked. For small stuff, they play great.

The tv I got on a day after turkey day type sale, $799 about 2 years ago. Sure its not as sharp as an LCD or LED, but its great for what I paid, especially back then.

Collins....I have a pile of Guitar hero stuff in my corner too, haha.

I also have little to no cable management. Its all just stuffed behind the stand and equipment.

Until they devise a way to ditch the glasses I dont think it will be anything great, IMHO. But its cool none the less. But I wouldnt spend an extra G on a set now over a regular LED set.

Living at home during medical school to save money (school is so damn expensive these days), and the parents like their theater equipment. Projector and 50' LCD are both JVC, sound system is getting older but still very nice, made by Meridian and everything is run through a PC made by Niveus. The drop down screen is 144' I believe. We just replaced the projector a year or two ago, we had an old Sony CRT that was dying. The JVC D-ILA has been great, awesome to watch sports in HD on such a big screen.

  • Sony Bravia 46" 1080p 120hz LCD - will be replaced with a 55" 240hz LCD as soon as I relocate the two wall sconces out of the way to fit a larger display.
  • Onkyo 7.1 Receiver
  • 7 Boston Acoustics Speakers - 3 towers up front and 4 monitors mounted on the walls in the sides and rear.
  • 4 SVS Cylinder Subwoofers - 1 in each corner of the room.
  • PS3 - the original version, used mainly as a Bluray player.
  • Rack - $20 from Target, desperately need to upgrade to a proper cabinet but too lazy to rewire everything.

Ignore the small black speakers mounted on the wall, they are not currently used. They were part of the original HTIB system that I started with but nearly everything has been upgraded since then. I might use them later for the front height speakers later when I upgrade the receiver.
