3-Series' biggest threat: New Volvo S60

http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1...vo-s60-preview

I have to admit. This is one of the best looking sedans I've seen in a while. It looks very different to everything else on the market.

It's ok but it can never be compared to a 3 series. It has a long way to go to reach that level.

The S60 is a true rival to the 3 series in the normal sense, it will major on safety and enviornment instead of pure driving pleasure. This will be a great FAMILY car in the same way as I view the XC90 as one of the best SUVs to own.

Not struck on the looks though, I think this new design looks it's best in the XC60.

I thought the S60 is the 5er category, S40 closer to the 3er?
Anyway, I don't find it a threat to the 3er at all...it's a boat...

not feeling the look. I honestly think there are lot of cars that can be considered rival to the 3 series in a general sense. even an accord v6 sedan is a competitor IMO.

If it drives like a Volvo it's not a competitor.

Looks nice and the curves are smooth but volvo hasn't been doing all that well for a while compared to the 3 main german companies (audi bmw benz)..... Plus there's vw and all the jpn cars as well..... Not gonna be easy for the little s60

the look is ok...and i hate Volvo is going retro logo....i bet you will see the badge on the trunk will be "V O L V O"

WTF....probably the good sleeper will be the S60R...if they bother to make them again.....

LOL.

FWD. Enuff said.

And it will be Chinese owned as soon as Ford sells Volvo.

They used to be a worthwhile choice when they still made the S60R and V70R AWD. I used to have one. A decent sleeper.

The safety card is really no longer up their sleeve. They are riding on a past legacy. And the great long lasting million mile Volvo is no more with modern electronics, cost cutting, and parts bin sharing, etc..

I will never understand why anyone wanting a sports car opts for a volvo.

Cause some people doesn't want to be branded as "bimmer"...

I remember Jeremy Clarkson said something about the V70R is a "cool" car....

That V70R is a good car...and you can pretend not to be a "car geek"....

I'll never understand the immaturity of some people on this board. Hopefully, some of the children here who find comments like this to be amusing will gain some perspective and understanding through personal experiences with people, like my son, who have intellectual disabilities. There is no humor in such 'jokes'.

Tha being said, the car is ugly.

How can you expect everyone to gain your perspective? Obviously you have a personal connection to an "intellectually disabled" person, but most don't, and retard jokes aren't going to stop being funny to some. I'm sure some blonds don't like blond jokes, I'm sure Monica Lewinski didn't like the Monica jokes, and I'm sure some black/white/jew/asian/white/hispanic people don't like racist jokes, etc. But the world doesn't revolve around you, and you are in for a lifetime of needless suffering if you think it will.
