I didn't make it quite there this past weekend, but I drove up to Helen and Unicoi State Park. The twisties inside of the park leading to Anna Ruby falls are unbelievable. Hwy 129 will definitely be my next weekend drive.

BTW, do you know of any other 335 owners in or around Atlanta. I'm in Dunwoody myself and wouldn't mind meeting up for coffee and a Sunday morning drive through the mountains.

That's a good ride too. I've been through there many times, but not with the bimmer yet. There are also some nice rides up past Dahlonega.

I'd definitely be up for a Sunday meet and ride. I'm in Gwinnett myself. Want to see if we can arrange a get-together? If we could get 4 or 5 drivers, I think it would be a lot of fun.

I don't know of any others with the 335i, but ATL_Architect (330i) is pretty active on Bimmerfest and might be interested. I'll send him a message.

P.S. - I'd love to see that terra interior of yours. I came really close to ordering that color and the dealer talked me out of it.

That brings back great memories. I haven't been to the Atlanta area in my BMW, but several years ago I drove through that area and also into Helen, GA in my VW Jetta. I miss the smooth and curvy roads. Here are a couple of pictures I took while in Helen.

Arranging a meet sounds good. How about Dec 2nd? I'm going to be out of town the next couple of weekends, including Thanksgiving. I'll PM you my e-mail address to work out the details.

If any Atlanta residents (any Bimmer model) reading this want to join us or have other ideas, pls PM either me or rit.

Got any detail about your E92 on order? I originally wanted an E92, but got the E90 because of the Terra interior and the fact that Nav / iDrive wasn't available on the early production E92s. Will you be getting Nav/iDrive on your E92? The RTTI is awesome in the Atlanta metro area....covers all the major highways and is very accurate and timely.

Hey tmoney, just sent you a PM. Let's see if we can setup the meet you suggested for 12/2. Maybe we can meet near Mall of GA for coffee then head up towards Helen or Dahlonega. Depending on how far we go, we could probably be back by early / mid-afternoon.

I placed order at the end of September and yes I did get idrive and navi...I believe all of the issues were taken care of shortly before I ordered. Should be just after thanksgiving! I cant friggin wait. Good to hear about rtti, I've heard that in some cities it doesn't work very well. You know i'll be needing it:mad:

Get together in ATL?

Did the meet ever happen? I'd like to suggest we shoot for a coffee/drive in January. Anyone in for the 14th?

It never happened. I would LOVE to go, but the 14th and the 21st are out for me. I can go next weekend (Dec 30th/31st), the weekend of the 7th, or the weekend of the 28th.

I think people need time to plan. Maybe the weekend of the 28th?

Go where next weekend? Hwy 129? If so, I think I'm game. How long would we go for and do you have an address so that I can punch it into the Navi?

Ok, so here's another view of Blood Mountain, where my NAV screenshot was taken. You start going uphill and hitting some curves at the GREEN arrow. The YELLOW arrow indicates the approximate position from my NAV screen at the top of this post and is near the top of the mountain. The RED arrow indicates the end of the "full" run (note the runaway truck ramp). Distance from the green arrow to the red arrow is a little more than 5.5 miles, with an elevation of about 2100 ft on the low end and about 3200 ft near the top.

The address at the cabins near the top is:

9894 Gainesville Highway
U.S. Hwy. 19 & 129, Neel's Gap
Blairsville, GA 30512

MORE details? Sheesh, you'd think you were driving from far away or something. There's plenty of mountain driving up here. I'd be up for anything a half day up to a full day, Sat or Sun. From Atlanta, a quick Blood Mtn is probably a three hour round trip. It could easily be stretched to a full day running around north GA and western NC.

Anybody else up for a ride this weekend? I'd hate to carry the burden of entertaining our young friend all alone.

I would be driving from "far away." It's 600 miles each way to the address you provided above.

I drove up to Asheville, NC yesterday with my girl and lucked out. No rain and lots of run driving along the Blue Ridge Trail. I was about 10 miles from the Tail of the Dragon, but couldn't make it due to time constraints.

We should try to make a full day drive on a dry weeken that includes the routes mentioned by RIT as well as the Tail of the Dragon.

ok so i am hijacking every thread for the last several months with ATL people wanting to go for mountain drives. I went with a few of the other fellas on here last weekend and it was awesome. let's do it again and see if we can get 10-15 of us. we had 6 last weekend and I would love to see a convoy of BMW's and Porsches flogging it throught the twisties again!
