320i engine warning light

Hi I'm a newbie to the forum and wondering if anyone, or how many judging by the 320i problems thread, has had this:

I have a 57 plate 320i msport manual with 100k on the clock. At the start of the week the car was completely frozen over and I hadn't used the car over the weekend. The car didn't start the first time (might have been second or third) and when it did start was vibrating / juddering and lower revs, only just ticking over at 500rpm. The yellow engine light reduce power came on with fault code CC-id 29. Car judders over 30mph, and I think I can hear a tiny rattle noise on passenger side. No power or acceleration but I guess thats due to limited power. When driven near 40mph slight smell at which point if I reduce speed to 20mph the odour dissappears. Engine sounds like a diesel rather than petrol.

The car is out of warranty and I guessing this could be an expensive bill. Anyone have an idea of what to expect, best and wrose case. Thanks for any response.

Bob

I had a similar problem with my 320 and most of them appear to have this same common problem (judering with the yellow managment light showing)
I needed to have a Coil, spark plug and injector one week after I purchased from the main dealer??

have a look at the massive post on the 320 problem many people insist that running on high grade fuel will limit the issues you may have??

I noticed that you are in Chigwell if so your local styner garage are a sponcer of this site and if I am correct a lady called Abby (I think) states that the master tech at there place can cure the 320i

Could it be running on 3 cylinders? If so chances are it's a coil pack...I think BMW replace coilpack, injector and spark plug as a matter of course when this happens.

I have recently had very similar issues with my 08 320i coupe, can you recommend any decent garage in Manchester or the North West Matty.....

Thanks, Martin
