15000 miles?

I recently bought a 325i and they said that the oil should be changed every 15000 miles. Is this true? I know the oil is synthetic, but that's still a long time.

Congradulations on your new car.

No, that's not true.

The car will tell you when its time for your oil change.

Sometimes over 20,000 miles depending on your driving.

The dealer will not do a free oil change until the car tells you.

Do a search and you will find out more information on this.

Some people pay for an oil change before the car tells them.

I thing I am going to wait until ythe car talks to me.

You do that until the car tells you? You'll change your mind after the first time. Mine was at 20kmiles and I will never do that again, 10kmiles from now on.

15,000 miles for first oil change?
I have 15,000km for first oil change.

Seems that computer does not convert miles and km for the service in U.S?

It's all depends on how spirited your driving is.

I consider myself a very aggressive driver (ie 2 tickets already) with 12,000 miles on the ticker. But my car still says 7,000 miles to oil change. It feels so wrong, but saving the $$ feels so right.

Rasmussen BMW, (OR) quoted $59.99 for an oil change . I think that's peanuts for maintaining your engine in the top shape . I will go for an oil change at most every 10k miles, at least for the first few oil changes.

Why not every 3k just to make sure?

It can never hurt... I ask my boss for a promotion
To be serious, I think it depends on your driving habits etc. In my case 3k may be too often. But then again, for somebody who only drives 1mile to work and 1 mile back, 3k miles may take a long time. Bottomline, it cannot be too much of a good thing.

For every one's info:

There is a glitch in the programming of some e90's which causes the oil service interval to be too much, i.e. 19000 instead of 15000. GO TO YOUR DEALER and tell them your Oil Service interval reads too high. They will check the mileage since your last service, perform any needed service, and re-program the car to have the right interval..
unfortunately the programming can take several hours to complete, so count of leaving you car overnight.
