Possible gas leak
at the rate that my car goes through a tank of gas led me to assume that I might have a possible gas leak. My question is, would the dme detect any possible gas leak anywhere in the fuel system. My last fill up lasted three days and less than 150 miles. My car is stock no mods whatsoever. Any other possibilities u guys think might be the cause ?

That is around the mileage I was seeing when my Vanos solenoids went out. They did eventually trigger a code/limp mode but it took about a week for that to happen. Have you scanned for codes? Not everything triggers a half engine light.
If you were losing fuel my guess is that you would be able to smell/see it at that rate. Warranty?

9mpg is really bad but I wouldn't say fuel leak bad, I would think a leak would really show itself between uses. Did you notice the gauge reading significantly lower after the car had been at rest since the last time you saw it? Do you smell anything? See anything on the floor?
It could be something completely different wrong with your engine getting those numbers.. Engine Malfunction, fuel grade, fuel quality.. You can eliminate hard driving because I guess you would have realized that.. Any codes being thrown? As for the DME, not sure

I had a car that leaked fuel but I think it only cost around $1.09 at the time so I lived with it. At $3+ per gallon it would pay to fix that leak. 9 mpg is not possible imho with a 3 series. It is with a SUV, but even 328i loaners get 15-16 in the city. 335i's should be 19 in the city.
