Z2 Pro vs Z5 Pro

What is the difference? I only want to get one, not both; which one would you recommend? My car's color is Monaco Blue.

Z5 will help to cover some minor swirls. The Z2 should be the last coat used as it has a higher clarity and reflectivity. The Z2 will not cover swirls.

I have always found it best to wash the car and use a claybar while washing, and wipe the car down with your wash mitt after claying the area and rinse well. Then use a fine swirl remover to polish out most of the swirls and minor scratches (recommend a porter cable dual action buffer). Then apply two coats of Z5 with ZFX and finsh with a coat of Z2. Use the detail spray between coats and after the last coat. Wait until next time you wash and if needed, apply two more coats of Z5 and then one more coat of Z2. If this does not get rid of 90% or all of the swirls and scratches then you may need to move up to a more abrasive swirl or scratch remover.

I try to apply Z2 monthly to help prevent swirls. Also, hand washing is a must with either lambs wool mitt or a microfiber mitt. Use something that is clean rinsing and keep your mitt and wash water clean. Rinse your mitt during washing process to prevent the grit from swirling your paint while you wash.

Hope this helps!!

Great summary!

Yeah, what he said. Z-5 will give your finish depth and fill minor swirls and scratches. Z-2 will make the finish very reflective (it is more optically perfect than Z-5).

So, if you best results, use a combination of Z-5 and Z-2.... Z5 first then Z6 gloss enhance than either more Z-5 or Z-2 then gloss enhance. I got really good results by going doing this: wash, Z-5 with ZFX, Z6, Z2 with ZFX, Z6.

If you want quick, go for what you think you want most... Z5 will smooth things out and give depth and hide minor stuff. Z-2 will make your car look like a diamond of that colour (mine looks like a black diamond )

on a space gray color, how different the results (shine/depht etc...) will be by using 2 coats of Z5Pro & 1 coat of Z2Pro Vs 1 coat of Z5Pro & 2 coats of Z2Pro?

Most people will not notice a difference. Only the really anal ones like me.

David, which would you recommend on metallic space gray? (2)Z5Pro & (1)Z2Pro or (1)Z5Pro & (2)Z2Pro? Thanks.

space grey... my guess is one coat of Z5 followed by one coat of Z2, then do another Z2 later on.
