Had an auto 335 and did the muffler delete and after a month, I put it back. The drone between 2200-3000rpm was stupid loud for me. I would not do it but to each his own. Try the golf tee mod first and search for a used exhaust.

went ahead and did it
update for whoever else plans to do it car sounds great at idle n if you floor it while parked driving however its extremly deep not raspy at all no mattter where the rpms are at but from 1000 to 3000 its extremly deep and pretty loud the car being auto shifts on its own and idk i personally dont like the sound of the exhuast not even cuting out as the car shfts as where a manuel would cut out once u step on the clutch i think illl be going tback to stock very soon. ;/ wat a waste of 140 plus now 60 to weld the oem back so a waste of 200 bucks :/

Just curious, did you keep a small tip or go bigger than stock?

One word... Rice

Just heard one with no cats and muffler straight pipe, if you go ahead with it you should also consider deleting your blue BMW hood and trunk Badges. Pay to play, you purchased a BMW for a reason, do her up right. Just my $.02

Swap in some resonated midpipes, they’ll mellow out the tone a bit and make it more elegant at higher revs, I’d imagine right now your exhaust is extremely deep and drony. I wonder how many folks on the forums go full catless+straight piping all the way back, so no resonators no cats no mufflers. That would be ridiculous.

Edit: o0o0o0o almost 1K posts hehe

yea i might end up doing that it is super deep below 4000 rpms after that its still not loud sounds almost like it did when stock with golf tee mod and sounds the same from 4000 to redline.

what do you think is a good brand of resonators?

but yea i would never go full catless it would be ridiculous.

Going full catless with a muffler delete would be pretty gnarly, IMO just too much noise for a BMW. I’ll advocate for Berk Midpipes all day, they’re one of the best mods I’ve made to my car, and I couldn’t be happier with them. They fit perfectly, don’t cost an arm and a leg, and REALLY do a nice job of cutting out drone and rasp. I’m 100% catless with one of the more aggressive axle-back sections on the market, and the midpipes cut out virtually all drone and rasp. When I just had the axle-back, it droned far worse than my current setup. I think they’d work very well with your car, you’d get a more exotic and refined tone up top, and it would certainly cut out a lot of the deep drone you’re dealing with now, though as you’ve found out a muffler delete will always have some drone. As far as welding resonators into the stock mids, Vibrant is well known and I know there are people here who have run them with 0 issues. If you keep your OE midpipes I’d suggest cutting out the secondary cats (useless) and replacing them with the resonators. Having the resonators also makes it easier if you decide to go full catless, as you don’t have to worry about the significant rasp they introduce.

Yes it is. I heard one this week end and I wanted to cry for what he did to the poor car
