Transmission Fluid Leak

I have an 07 e90 335 got a minor leak of transmission fluid which just started. From quick research it looks as an exact same issue as this one http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500665

The threaded plug has 2 o-rings on it that prevent transmission fluid from leaking out. Looks as if the 2 o-rings have gone bad.

Has anyone had a similar issue which they got fixed outside of a dealership, if so how much and where?

Thanks!

Yup i had the same issue on my 335i. Noticed a leak in my garage so i brought it in to the dealership. They replaced the faulty rings and oil pan.

Thanks!

Got it fixed - paid under $400, letting those know who may encouter this problem. Apparently its very common once the cold weather hits and your car is approximately 3-4 years old.

Good to know it isn't too much. Mine just started leaking this fall. The strange part with mine is that it only seems to leak overnight. My parking spot at home has two leak spots, yet my spot at work is dry.

I shopped around. Dealer was asking over $850 + tax, other shops ranged from $500 - $700 (cash).

Get it fixed before it gets worst. In your case it has to do with the colder temps at night. You may see consistency once it gets colder.

$850+tax likely included brand new tranny fluid though (dealer price).

O-ring change

Are these O rings replaced when having your transmission fluid replaced?

I think I may have this same leak on my '08. Where was your drip? Mid-way back? Thanks.

Or after extended period of time. Mine has only 39K but in 6yrs and I just noticed a problem yesterday while getting it inspected by the buyer (I'm selling it). I'm bummed out but lucky to have extended warranty. I'll be taking it to the stealership tomorrow...
