I see. That makes sense! I think the next thing Shiv needs to do is try a ported head and also try to gain control over VANOS (If at all possible with piggies). VANOS can be adjusted from -72 degrees to +72 degrees on both intake and exhaust.

That's cool and thanks. But I think I'm good for now.

So all those people who thought I was talking out my a$$ about the N54 making it to 800hp...well....you can now kiss my

Good job Shiv....many of us here in South Florida are debating this, and to think about it, I was the first person to say it would make it to 800 hp and I will hold to this belief whereas many thought it was a ridiculous idea.

Seriously though, do you think you can run 600whp as a daily driver and not risk the integrity of the engine? (long term speaking)

Also what do you think the limit on HP with stock internals?

Shiv,

Do you mind sending an oil sample from your single turbo N54 to BlackStone Labs for some analysis? It'll be nice to see if the engine is really holding up to these levels of power output!

Which means that we would pick up around 50-60WHP all throughout the midrange. Car would be much quicker but also unnecessary aggressive at this somewhat premature point in time.

Another thing we should start looking at is raising the rev limit. I just did the math and at 7,000rpm, our N54 piston speed is only at apx. 21m/s! That's by no means fast, and even raising up to 8000rpm (mps of 24) should not come close to breaking the hydrodynamic oil film.

Someone care to be the guinea pig? In theory, throwing in tougher valve springs might be the only insurance needed to raise the rev limit to 8000...

Just switch map or lower the boost. You dont need to be boosting @ 21+ PSI all the time...

If you're talking about production street legal cars, I would say the BMW motor in the McLaren F1. The M-developed S70 6.0L V12 naturally aspirated motor produced 618 hp stock.

Wow. Shiv's motor makes significantly more hp than the McLaren F1 engine!

We were toying with the idea of raising the rev limiter a bit. But generally speaking, running higher revs puts far more load on rods than running more boost. And we are already making a ton of power so it's probably not a good fit to raise rev limits at this time. Plus, raising rev limits can void your warranty (see sticky thread about FASTA data/tune detection)

Yeah, not like the single turbo voids anything either

Hey Shiv. Thanks for doing the 94 pump non-meth dyno. What do you think is the theoretical limit for 91 octane pump gas only? This would be the bottom line WHP the kit would make then.

Also, with the step down small turbo, what's the max range on that? 600whp?

91oct fuel is nasty. Getting a single turbo system capable of supporting 600-700whp and NOT running pwm meth is criminal. Without meth, you will probably be limited to 460-480whp on 91oct. Just a guess though as all of my dyno testing has been on 94oct (with or without meth).

And yes, the smaller turbo should easily be able to make 600whp. We'll confirm that soon enough with CupertinoSteve's 6AT car.

And this is just the beginning...

I'm still amazed that the internals/head/intake manifold have not been touched. 627whp with a Bolt-On kit, amazing!

And not even running race gas or the higher reading MAP sensor yet....
