NEED ADVICE: To install JB4 or not to install JB4? Thats the question...
OK So please I would like everyone's input for the question. This is in reference to my 09 335xi coupe. Never have installed JB4 or such mods, this will be the first.
Some background: the car hasn't hit 14k on the odometer as yet. Everything runs perfectly fine. I'm just ready to up the power and get back that spirited driving feeling. The issue is, my CPO warranty is up this September. I'm worried that installing JB4 may prematurely cause damage to turbos or water pump, etc. I plan on buying a secondhand warranty once this is up, but I'm afraid of the risks the stress will put on the system. So all that being said, is it wise for me in this position to install JB4? I really want to, but with so little miles maybe its too early? Should I wait? Thanks in advance for the input!

I've been JB3 or JB4 + FBO for 160k miles without issue and my car still runs like new. There are also cars which have had major failures around or under your mileage despite being stock.
Tune it and enjoy it IMO. No use avoiding issues which could happen anyway. Whether the mods make certain things fail faster is a HUGE topic of debate right now. Modded cars need more frequent fluid and plugs. The turbos obviously see an increased load but then you're back to the issue of stock turbos failing, whereas some original turbos like mine are still good at 160k of FBO. LOL! You were ready , huh? Well mine is on the way, I'm just tentative about installing it. More than likely I'm going to have it installed, I'm just worried about any consequences.

Will you be installing it yourself? I know theres a DIY video but it looks really messy when you get to the wiring parts.

It's a very easy install and a must have IMO. It will totally change the aggressiveness and feel of the car. I bought my 2011 E92 with 14.7k miles and put on the JB4 at 15.5k. Runs strong and I love it.

If you follow a strict regiment of timely maintenance you should be Ok. I had a JB4 for 6 months then sold it and moved on to Cobb tune now for 10 months. I highly recommend Cobb for ease of use and installation.

do it!
Especially since the JB4 can be turned off or on via the steering wheel buttons. I drive my car on map 0 (off) most of the time but when I'm looking to have a little fun... several button presses later... |

Is it safe to get a used Cobb or should I just drop the 895 to get a new one? I just purchased a 2010 335i conv with msport and am thinking of the Cobb being my first mod...

no matter what you do, mods to the engine are going to make other parts wear faster. Yes it's true that all cars fail no matter what. With mods your giving yourself another tick on the negative side. They do make the car alot of fun to drive though.
