Warranty Time
Hard to believe, but the AUC warrant runs out in a couple of days so need to make a decision on who to go with.
The choices seem to be either Warranty Direct or Mondial via BMW. The WD seems to be less expensive but covers more, but I would still probably prefer OEM (sort of). Is there any experience of price movement on the BMW warranty. Top cover with £0 excess is over £1k per year if paid monthly

The standard warranty covers recovery to local BMW garage, the upper level gives you travel on to destination, hotel accomodation etc.

I went with Mondial.
Reviews seem to point to a smoother claims process and less likely to argue the toss. Doesn't matter what i paid as different car but it was cheaper as i went with an excess of £250. But defiantly get fully comp. Breakdown cover included too. But if i do over 60k miles it doubles. |

£0 excess will always cost an arm and a leg, but it's the only option that will be similar to what the AUC offered. That is if you don't consider the £95 diagnostic fee that dealers often try to make you pay.
At a £1K+ it's starting to get into the territory where you may be better off starting a savings account, but M repairs are not cheap so I would probably go with a higher excees and use it as a backup. So pay for anything cheap yourself and use the insurrance for anything else. I would not go anywhere near Warranty Direct as they'll happily take your money, but getting anything out of them when filling a claim will be painfull. I don't need that kind of pain and hassle in my life. |

Just stick the money in a bank. What's the worse that can happen?

Any extended warranty on an M3 is always going to cost, because the potential repair costs are so high due to the large number of expensive limited production parts to cover.
As others have said, best stick with the BMW backed scheme (but remember it will tie you to service work being done by the dealer network - assuming that isn't an issue). When you add in the other benefits, such as the breakdown cover and the fact you can just take it to the dealer rather than pay and then try to chase the money, BMW cover must be better. Too many horror stories of problems elsewhere. As others have said, reduce costs by taking an excess if need be. Of course, I don't know your financial situation, but as with all these things, if a repair bill of several £1000 would be an inconvenience rather than a show stopper you can always keep your money and take the risk. |

Until I've finished paying for it!
Probably another year if circumstances stay the same. Tax, insurance and tracker all paid up front for the year...
