V K Motorwerks Oil Cooler upgrade kit is READY!!! (56k beware)
Over the past few weeks we have been receiving tremendous response for our oil cooler kit. We appreciate all the support we have received from this community. Our ordering website is www.VKMotorwerks.com
The special price for the oil cooler upgrade is only $595!! This price is only valid until Monday, July 21st, 2008. After this date the product will be sold to various national and international distributors at a suggested retail price of $999. The full kit will be released within a few weeks because of production time required for fabrication of parts and quality control. If you haven’t been following the product development, please refer to the following thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=Motorwer ks+Oil+cooler We have worked very hard to deliver a top quality product at a reasonable price and still hit our committed deadline. We are sure you will realize the benefits this important modification at the track and on the street. If you have any questions please PM me or contact me at Vince@VKMotorwerks.com. Thanks for your support. We look forward to serving you. Sincerely, Vince V K Motorwerks, LLC. Last edited by Vince@ V K Motorwerks; 07-14-2008 at 11:40 PM.. |

1) I am so all over this.
2) I will beat the living snot out of this on the track and report back. In 90+ ambients, I can get the oil temps to peg at 300 degrees, no problem on the stock oil cooler. I can't wait to see what Vince's setup will do. |

Have fun, be safe. I took my car to Gingerman Raceway in MI with this set up and did 20min hard sessions with no issues. Not one heat induced limp mode. I had so much fun going back this thursday. I won't quote any temps, Ill let you (the consumer/Hard Core Driver) do the review.

Hello Azriel,
Well you will be getting the following: -High capacity core powder coated black -High strength metal louver cover also powder coated black -High temp hoses and AN8 fittings -Thermostat adaptor (no need of core exchange) -Mounting hardware This will mount to your stock oil cooler mounts. You will have to only modify your wheel well plastic cover and a part of your brake vent. This install can be done in about 1-2 hours depending on installer's expertise. As for a picture of the core, please look at the oil cooler pics above. The first one shows the core and the cover seperately. I hope I answered all your questions. What's the temps in Singapore? Are you looking forward to going to Sepang? Vince |

Nice, this is a great alternative to those who didnt opt for the Sports Package and are wanting the Oil cooler retrofit, I think OEM parts and labor is close to couple grand..

Ambient temps are around 33-35C degrees in the day and 27-29C degrees at night. Once the engine is warmed up, we are looking at 115C -120C degrees. Cheers! |

Now I feel really stupid. My car is at the shop getting some suspension work done but I am looking at these photos of the oil cooler and I'm second guessing my "lack of oil cooler".
I have the vent marked in the attached image in my front passenger wheel well. That's the indicator of an oil cooler correct?

So you have 20 minute sessions, right? Be prepared to drive for 3 minutes and have something to do for the other 17 minutes while you wait for your car to cool down.

longodj and Hun7777: The full kit should be done within about a week or two. There are a lot more parts in this kit and therefore more to install. The full kit may take up to 8 hours to install. I recommend doing it from a shop that is knowledgeable with BMWs.
The full kit has the following items: -oil filter housing -thermostat -thermostat adaptor -hoses -there are two separate mounts for the oil cooler -oil cooler brace -CAI manifold gaskets -rubber bushings -mounting hardware. I really feel that this is an important mod if you don’t have one. The stock car driving to the grocery store is fine with no oil cooler but if you are tracking your car or adding more power it is a critical to have one. |

lol been there done that. I had to leave a Pocono weekend on the second day because my car just was not taking the stress. At least it's been reduced to 3 days because the Glen is having surface problems :-/

My car came with the OEM Oiler Cooler. Do you think it's neccesary that I add this?
Will it give me more power? I plan on adding a tune, exhaust, and maybe DP's. OP can you clarify some of these concerns of mine. Thanks |

Jfreak> drive the car as hard as U would for some time in hot weather. If U got a limp mode, this mod is for U. But if U dont track your car, I doubt it. This will not give U any more HP and if U dont have oil temp related issues, U can skip this one.
Anyway - if U plan to attend some "Driver Safety Seminars", what I highly recommend to all of U fellow drivers, than U should go for it, as it is possible that under sustained high load U find out what does an oil temp related limp mode mean.

We are offering the upgrade from the OEM oil cooler to address the issues that many people are seeing when driving their cars hard for a period of time. The OEM oil cooler is okay when driving around town or doing short bursts. However, under heavy loads, like tracking or motor-X, the OEM oil cooler is not sufficient. Since you are modifying your car I would recommend getting an oil cooler because more power means more heat. You will not gain more power but you will be able to enjoy your power longer if you don’t have over heating issues. |
